Cost of in-ground pool

What’s the cost to drop a pool these days? Nothing too crazy. Average size with a hot tub attached and not much landscaping outside of a simple border.

Damn. Don’t think I’ll be putting in a pool anytime soon.

Depends on area, but some of the basic gunite pools are looking at $75-80k minimum, for ~20k gals.
Larger, more decking, extra features, decorative walls, landscaping, etc. all add up.

What about fiberglass? If I’m not that concerned with customization, is a fiberglass pool good?

My wife loves to spend money, but thank the Lord she doesn't want a pool.

I paid just a shade under $60k almost 5 years ago. Prairieville. Average sized gunite. Pentair everything. A good bit of concrete plus 12x14 extra foundation for pavilion. Gas heater. No landscsping(diy)
Signed before Covid pricing but was hung up in Covid materials and labor shortages

10 years ago 60,000 included cool deck and water fall . Saltwater pool, wouldn't have chlorine. Chlorine to much work.

Put in a fiberglass two summers ago. Cannot recommend them enough. We used Gulfstream, a company out of the Lafayette area. Went with one of the more basic designs, no hot tub or water features, standard lighting and decking. Basically just wanted a pool, no extra bells and whistles. We were about $45K all in-that was with an additional $5k to crane the shell over the house because my side yard was too narrow to roll it in.
Have loved every second of it. Highly recommend. Hope this helps.

I live in the middle of nowhere where so no one actually sees my pool.
18k gallon above ground
Salt water
30x50 wood deck
About 16-18k all in. We love the hell out of it
ETA: I know you asked for in ground, but this was to give you perspective. Pools are outrageous, we were going to put in an in ground when we build our house. Now we may actually keep the above ground and build a pool house next to it and still come out way cheaper than the in ground.

Builder put the pool in. We bought the house when it was just a slab. Had no say so unfortunately. I love the design but I would have done a few things differently.

Went through the full quote process last year, just under $100k for a rather basic fiberglass 14x20. We’d need dirt work and a retaining wall.
Decided I no longer wanted a pool.
Also learned through this that it’s very common for people to take out 20yr loans for pools.

That's stupid. I will never pay that much for a damn hole in the ground that I'll eventually fill in. I'll gladly pay $10k for a nice above ground pool sunken a bit then build a deck and such around it myself, then throw it away when I'm tired of it. frick anything over $40k for a damn pool.
