If there's enough left in your bonus check to cover it when construction is complete, you could fly your extended family down to help dedicate it.

Nope, just looking for kids toys recommendations. Thanks though.

Green isn’t a great color on you.

It's hard to use your "Jelly of the Month" selections to buy plane tickets, but it is the gift that keeps giving all year long!

Who is doing your pool and what are the specs/size? I'll be in the pool market soon, I'd appreciate the advice. I'm in Mandeville and understand if you want to take the conversation to email. Thanks!

Guess I didn’t. Just assumed it was a dick response. Focused on last minute Christmas gifts.

La Pools and Spa out of Metairie. Got quotes from about 9 companies and liked this guy the best and had a reasonable price. Gunite pool and hot tub. 15 x 30 pool size.

Rafael did my pool. Finished in September. Good people but just like any pool company you gotta stay on them. Probably a little tougher for us cause we are close to BR, but they were very fair and pool came out fantastic.

We actually are having a pool party today for my daughters birthday. Got the pool up to a nice 85 degrees. Gas bill has taken a hit though.
Good luck with your build!

Nothing beats the bball goal. Diving board got more use though. Could have spent more to have the anchors for the goal in concrete but we liked the option of moving it easily out of the way.

Been getting quotes for a new build and I must say, Rafael is a real pain in the arse to deal with. He's more of a salesman than a pool builder IMO. It's been over a month and all I've got is one half-assed quote, with lots of important specifics left out. He does like to send 3D pictures though.

I agree that he is a good salesman, but he is actually here right now, personally tarping the dig that they did this week so the rain doesn't do too much damage. I can appreciate that. Week one in, I have to say that I am happy. I do text him every day I see work done to see what the next step is though. I had heard you have to stay on him, but I think that is most pool companies.

If I have to stay on them to get an honest quote, then I’m gonna avoid the potential headache when they start to dig.
Glad it’s working out for you, he just rubbed me the wrong way with not being totally upfront and now I am left with more questions than answers.
I’m gonna go a different route with a different company that has been extremely upfront with costs, etc.

We're under contract with Rafael at LA Pools as well. We haven't started construction yet, so I can't comment on build quality or timeliness. I can say that my pre-contract experience was very different from yours. We received a quote based on a drawing at our very first meeting. I found him to be extremely transparent about pricing. He was even willing to put numbers out there for some of my vague questions. I don't think I ever saw any 3D drawings.

I agree with you. He was very upfront. I had a drawing already that I gave him and he gave me an estimate right there on the spot. Weeks later I went to his business and he gave me the contract to look over. A couple of weeks later I called him to come by the house again, clarified some questions I had and signed the contract. I found him to be quite upfront and honest. Not pushy at all like some of the others I requested quotes from and very quick to respond when I had questions. I certainly didn't get the impression of "take it or leave it, I have plenty other pools to build" which I appreciate.

He's definitely not pushy. That's not my complaint. It's a lack of information, not following up, etc. Just sending pictures and not quotes. He’s extremely busy and I believe that is part of the issue. He's even called me thinking I was someone else.

I am glad it is working out for you guys and congrats on the new pool. We are excited about getting ours.

Don't forget two or three girls from the local lingerie department either ....

That or a high privacy fence for when you take your wife for a midnight swim while the kids are at Grandmas and Grandpas.

Pool construction

Have them put in the permanent pool umbrellas meant for a basketball goal. Then if you get it down the road, it will slip right into the holders.

Glad you found someone that is a good fit. As I've recently learned, this seems to be kind of a shady industry.

Cheers and let's hope it is a relatively pain-free process for all of us. Wishful thinking, perhaps.
