What can I spray it w to nuke it at this time. My zoysia is terribly slow to green and I am not sure what zoysia I have as it was laid by prior owner.

I assume it is palisades

Don’t have much, probably a kids swimming pool size total in 5-6 spots but wanted to get rid of it as early as I can.

1oz of Weed Free Zone per gallon water + some surfactant will knock out clover.

You likely have low nitrogen. Soil test is the best thing to do then fertilize accordingly. Should kill off the clover.

You think that is why is is so slow to green?

Zoysia seems to be on its own timetable when it comes to green up. Especially if it is less than 3 years old.

Arent most warm season turf grasses slow to green?

But as to the previous poster's point, clover tends to pop up in soil low in nitrogen. Clover actually takes nitrogen from the air and puts it in the soil to help fertilize the other plants sharing soil with the clover.

Speedzone is another weed killer that will knockout clover quickly but I'm not 100% you want to be using this stuff on dormant grass. I think it may be safer to wait for the grass to be green and growing.

OP has soils poor in nitrogen, which his turf grass needs. Clover appears and gets to fixing the nitrogen problem. Replies follow on how to kill the clover

which is what I want. I can add the nitrogen without the clover. I found the responses helpful

do what you want

just pointing out that clover will do it for you for free with no effort on your part, it will improve your soils, it will feed the bees, and it will disappear like a fart in the wind just about the time your zoysia greens up

this is the only part I disagree with. I start cutting short in March and clovers just grow too fast and reel mower doesn’t cut them good. A good dose of blindside knocks them out when it’s time to get the yard back in shape.

Reel mower is a different animal. Reel mowers and weeds don’t work. That’s a turf grass only mower.

Clover is a perennial. So it will come back year after year. To cgrands point it will add nitrogen to your lawn for free and dies before it’s time for a show case lawn. The other side would be a weed free lawn.

No, no it doesn't.

I think that most would agree that a warm season lawn isn't a show case lawn until at least the July 4th holiday.

Sounds like you think it should be shown off in April, which just isn't the case.

I have Bermuda, so I put down more nitrogen than most. But once I start heaving feeding a week before Easter, the clover disappears.

I do let it grow in the winter. It’s in the same 2 places year after year.
