Are Home Depot/Lowe’s my best bet? Was wondering if brick yards or nurseries night have a better deal. This stuff is expensive!!

How many do you need? A lot of building supply places will deliver for free or cheap. Big box stores charge usually. So you may consider that. Lot better to have a pallet or two dropped off for you then loading and unloading your truck.

Which blocks are you looking at?

Not sure how many I need yet but I can probably pick them up myself.

Hijack post...
I did a small bed in my front yard this weekend and ended up going with some flagstone blocks from lowe's. I had never seen them like that before and look pretty great.

I think they have the 8” version for 98 cents.

Both Lowes and HD had them 4 for a dollar. You missed out.

Those were pavers. I want something with more of a stone look. That was a hell of a deal though.

When we were there the 8" was 1.38
I thought about going that route but glad I didn't. They would have looked pretty small from the road. It was only a $20 difference for my project.

I didn’t think of that. How many rows did you do?

Following as I'm about to do something similar on new house landscaping. I am looking for more of a cinder block style though. Want to fill them with either mortar or cement to keep them from falling over. Something like this:
Wall Block

It sounds like you pay by the pound for this stuff, so I figured these would be more cost effective. Was really looking for a vendor that is not a big big box store.

I've priced out several options in my area and Lowes and HD are the cheapest I've found. I even looked into railroad ties but those are $14-$15 for an 8' tie, which is almost the same cost as the blocks for the coverage you get.

Just one. I just used them for a border on a bed, not actually a retaining wall. The area next to the house is a little higher than the rest of the yard so they don't look hidden in the grass.
I guess if you are actually doing a retaining wall it would depend on how high up you're going. I can't remember if they are significantly thinner or not compared to the 11". In either case it might mean a bit more stacking for you.

I wonder how it would if you filled them with potting soil and did succulents and pea gravel?
