Anybody have good recommendations on ceiling fans that work well for cooling and look nice. My current ones move at a snails pace on full speed.

Hunter fans. Got some over 20 years old and still run quiet like the day I installed them.

Nothing beats a hunter original, they will last over 100 years

Last year I replaced 4 fans with white Hunter low profiles. They're good looking and very quiet.

I have some cheaper Hunters in my house. What you'd probably call low end. I paid around 80-90 apiece for them 28 years ago. They are 52 inch, 5 blade fans. They still run great, they are quiet, and move plenty of air. I have wall mounted 4 speed switches on all of the fans and never run any of them above "Med", because the fans make the wife (no pics) too cold. Now I'm not saying you should get low end Hunters, I'm just illustrating how good Hunter fans are, period.

Lamps Plus ceiling fans

I now have 3 fans from here. Only place I'll buy fans. Endeavor is my favorite. Operates and looks beautifully.

The last three fans we bought have been Fanimation fans. Have been really good so far and the price was good.

Have Hunter fans in every room except bathrooms.
Living room, dining room, four bedrooms and kitchen all with ten ft ceilings. Circulates a lot if air even on low.
They are 32 years old and have never had one problem with any of them.

looks like that place is just an online showroom. Those same brands are available at your local lighting showroom, probably for a cheaper price

Yes, Lamps Plus would be a lighting showroom.
They have 3 stores here in Phoenix. We've purchased barstools from them online, however.

I've had to replace a few old fans (20+ year old models) recently and I've come to the conclusion that the new, modern fans simply do not "put out" like the older versions. Maybe its safety or government regulations....but the top end speed is not the same.

You just bought the wrong fans, air movement is listed on the spec sheets, there are plenty out there that move a lot of air.

I have a home decorators collection indoor fan...I think they're exclusive to home depot. I almost never have it higher than low... medium for a few minutes does the trick if I've just come in from bad heat....doubt I will ever use high.... it's seriously an obnoxious amount of air

That's possible, but just going by my experience.

My bedroom unit (Casablanca from 1990ish) actually shorted one night while we were sleeping. I thought the house would catch fire. I did a fair amount of research and purchased a DC model by Emerson on-line (from Hanson's). It had great efficiency and was at the top of the scale (available) in air movement. Paid a pretty penny. After installing, I don't think it meets the old Casablanca's air movement. The older fans swayed sometimes cause the motor was spinning the blades so fast. I just don't see that type of torque in the newer models.

I recently replaced another Casablanca in an upstairs bedroom with a cheaper Hunter fan. It simply does not perform like the old one & it has an extra blade (4 vs. 3 on the old one).

It seems like the torque is down so they don't move and sway like the old ones wide open.

Any specfic models that move lots of air? Would like to know if I have to change another one in the near future.

If air movement is the objective I would not look to a ceiling fan for best results but rather an aid.
I'd go with a stand fan of some sort. Just like other fans they come in a variety of sizes and strengths. On an industrial level perhaps and Air King in some model. In home perhaps a Vornado. LINK

with or without a light kit? traditional or modern?

in my experience, the more industrial and modern looking fans can have much higher CFM ratings do to the blade pitch being more pronounced. There are options out there with over a 9000 CFM rating
