Cars don't come with spares anymore.. Best side of road option

I have used tire sealants with great success on lawn tractors such as slime, but fix a flat in the past just did not do much.
Ideally you pull over and at least put a tire plug in the thing, but may not be ideal without getting the tire off the car.
Anyone that uses cars without a spare just keep a bottle of slime or something of the like? Vs buying run-flats?

Don't tell us you have a Ferrari and can't find the spare...
Leave it on the side of the road with the keys....I'll bring you a spare.

???
You might be shocked at how many cars don't come with spares anymore
Study in 2018 over a third already...

Not really. About a third of new cars today do not come with a spare tire, though they may be equipped with a compressor and sealant kit to temporarily fix a flat tire. Some cars without spares come with “run-flat” tires, which are designed to operate for a limited distance after losing air from a typical puncture.

I usually just have it as an add-on to my auto insurance. Offers 100 mile tow range. Pretty sure it is under $50/year.

But, just FYI, a lot of those companies will change the tire, but will not provide said tire...

I purchased a 2019 Kia Sportage for my wife (no pics will be
furnished) in which I opted for an additional accessory spare tire. Trusting one of the fix a flat deals is not an option for me.

Wife's car has a compressor and a tire sealant canister made to work with that compressor. We had 1 issue. Luckily there are tire places every 2 miles where we live. Literally filled the tire and drove through parking lots to get it patched. Not sure how good the sealant is far longer drives. We have roadside service and will replace these tires with run flats.

My personal opinion - Don't buy a car that does not come with a spare tire. Just don't buy it.
Compressors and fix a flat can fix SOME tire issues, but a spare fixes ALL issues.
And run flats are great if you only plan to get a flat M-F 8am-5pm. But what about nights/weekends/holidays when tire stores are closed?
Also, never use fix a flat, always use slime.

Luckily a spare is usually an option. I would never drive a car without a spare personally.

I used to always have a tire patch kit, some detergent, and a bike pump in the truck when I worked construction and would pick up nails onsite a lot. Most of the time I didn't even have to take the tire off.

Well, I hope you never get two flat tires at the same time.

Based on this thread this might be still the best option.
Probably just stick with a canister of slime tire sealant if I am in a pinch I guess

I’m just curious how a thread on car spare tires fits on the Home & Garden board?

I called State Farm roadside assistance for a tow when my alternator died. They said no problem. They set up a tow truck and said the tow truck should be there in 6 hours

I have used AAA and their contractors have taken 1-2hrs easy.

This. Or as said if it’s the weekend and you get a flat in a small town or traveling the chances of finding a tire store open arent great.
Crazy idea for you OP, but buying an aftermarket spare is ALWAYs an option also.
