looking to brighten the room.

Incandescent? No.
LED? - probably.
Wattage rating of lamp sockets is based on heat generated by the bulb.

Most A19 LED bulbs are 6-15W, so you can use them pretty much anywhere.

Use LED bulbs. Compare lumens instead of wattage.

Very helpful chart, thanks.

LEDs usually base their output rating on a “wattage equivalent”. So if you buy a higher output LED based on a 100W incandescent, it’ll have similar output but drastically lower power use. The chart another poster put up explains it well.
In summary, LEDs are very versatile and efficient.

Technically, no. The 60w socket is only rated for the current needed for a 60w incandesence bulb, and a 100 watt bulb pulls more amps.
A 100 watt equivalent LED will pull far less amps than any incandescent bulb and will be fine.

Incandescent. You want to start a fire. No.
LED. Go right ahead.

150W LED is ok?

I just bought some LED’ bulbs with a selector on them to adjust the brightness. The daytime setting is bright AF

Yes because it likely still consumes less power than the 60W incandescent. The lightbulb socket rating is based on electricity consumption and heat generated. An LED bulb will do less in both of those categories.
However if it’s an interior lightbulb I would question why you’d need a 150W equivalent output indoors.

for incandescent its not a good idea but honestly people have been putting 100watters in 60w sockets for a long arse
time. But with LED its not an issue any more
