The state is resurfacing a roadway by my house and the road is torn up with rocks all over the road. My windshield was broken by a rock on that roadway.

I think I already know the answer but does the state set aside money for issues like this?

I know it’s a long shot but I’ve had lawn services that cracked my window as I was driving by and they have insurance to cover incidents like that. Any chance the state or the construction company has similar coverage?

Before i tell you you're SOL, do you have any recorded proof that it happened because of the road work? Otherwise I'm going to park my car there for a few hours, leave and come back, and claim the same thing.

Oh I get it. I just know the government likes to blow money on stupid shite. I was hoping they had a broken windshields fund.

No I don’t have any proof.

The government likes to blow money on their stupid shite...not yours.

But if you use your insurance it might only cost $100 deductible.

Safelite will come to you. I've had them replace my windshield in the parking lot while at work years ago, and just replaced mine last week. They paid my deductible some kind of way.

When I was a kid we had a windshield reimbursed when one of the roadside mowers threw a rock into the car parked in our driveway. My mother got out there pretty quick and flagged one of the mowers down and he sent over their foreman.

is it completely broken or is it a chip/peck in it?

If it's just a chip/peck, there are kits that you can buy at auto parts store that you can fix it yourself.

Not hard at all.

Looked into it previously and was told dealers just use Safelite too. Safelite fixes windshields too if possible.
