My sod is very uneven with low spots. It was laid last summer. Will sand work?

Depends on how big of an area but generally yes.

What kind of grass?

You think that the sod will take care of the bumps when it is laid, I learned that lesson the hard way. What type of grass?

Just being real, if you want it done right and it’s large areas, dig up the sod. Add new fill sand and grade it out. Then replace with new sod. Spot filling a bunch of large areas with sand just give you sand pits that become weed patches.

If the whole yard is shite, rip it up, grade it all out properly and add new sod

you are correct. I hate my yard because of all of the low spots and I know what I need to do to make it right.

I’m planning on building a house in a few years and many times I know the GC will do the landscaping and sod work. I will 100% take that out of his contract and do it on my own, or I will oversee his crew doing it properly.

Mix it with some peat moss for best results.

If it's a lot of areas it will take a few seasons to get desired results though.

Bring your machine over and let's get to work.

How bad? Sod roller may do the trick.

I don't hate my yard but the low spots irritate the shite out of me. If we didn't have so many dogs to track in dirt/sand, I would at least have someone come level the low spots some.

This is exactly why i cant use this method. Made a huge mistake using some dark soil in one big low spot and my dog takes his wet paws in the morning right into it every single time. Sand would be a similar story. I literally have to wait at the door and wipe their feet off every morning, such a pain in the arse.
