I searched and only found threads from 4-10 years ago. Wondering if anyone has had any experiences recently with someone that they'd recommend. It seems everyone is backed up more than normal. I'm not in a hurry, but I'd like to get on someone's schedule.

I know the usual rec's are Russell & Ewing. My buddy has been trying to get a price from Russell for 2 months and they are just too busy. Ewing seems to be in a similar situation where they are hard to get a price.

I don't want anything large or crazy, but I want somone that will be around in 5-10 years if I have problems.

Do yourself a huge favor: wait until winter and then get as many quotes as you can. They are going to rape you on costs this time of year.

Everyone is backed until the fall at least so that isn't a problem. I'd be happy to have it done in the winter, but the way things are looking some of these guys are booked until then so I wouldn't expect much discount.

I'm in the exact same situation. I called Russell yesterday and his secretary said it would be at least a week before he can call me back. BS, im not dealing with someone who can't even return a phone call

Same, but I understand his situation. If all he did was answer his calls, he wouldn't get work done. My guess is when someone like this gets that busy, they are working the bigger ($$$) jobs and calling back the contractors that send them a lot of business. I don't hold it against Russell b/c I'd love for them to do my pool, but my yard & budget is too small to be on his radar right now.

I can’t get anyone to call me back or give me a quote right now. I’ve called about 5 or 6 different contractors, not including the 2 you’ve mentioned. I’ve even met with a few of them prior to COVID-19 Quarantine and still can’t get return calls/emails/texts.

It is frustrating. If you’re that busy, just let me know that. Don’t flat out ignore potential customers. Or worse, make promises of “I’ll get to it this afternoon” and then nothing.

I’m just planning to wait until Fall and try again.

Try Pinnacle. I'm in the designing stage for a pool, decking, outdoor grill area with them. I had to book about 3 weeks out to get them to the house for the design consult, but the design as been pretty smooth since.

Call Chris Graham at Scapes, LLC. He always does top notch subsurface drainage. I'm not sure how busy he is though. He built my pool last year.

My neighbor just had a pool built by Scapes and he was very happy with them. Pool is beautiful.

I called Ewing a couple of weeks ago. Talked to them yesterday and he was up front and said it would be fall before he can come out and go over designs.

I also had pinnacle come out a couple of weeks ago and we're supposed to have something back on a design this week. We'll see

I'm looking for a small pool and pavilion

If you're open to a fiberglass pool, call Jake Duncan at Precision Pools. They did mine last year, and I'm very happy with it.

Trust me, you’ll want to wait on the call back from Russel Pools. Keith Russel is the best in Baton Rouge. If you want to deal directly with the owner from start to finish, answer any question you have with no BS, and not leave the job until your 100% satisfied, this is your man. He finished our pool over a year ago and still checks up from time to time to see if everything is working and we’re happy. Excellent experience from day one.

STAY AWAY FROM JAKE AND PRECISION! They did ours and it’s been a nightmare. 1st year was fine then the concrete started cracking and after 4 years of issues we finally pulled up all the concrete and some was less than 1” thick. They offered no help! Crap install, crap service!

If you are talking about the decking, concrete just cracks. There isn't much you can do about it. You can alter the mix, add fiber, and/or add wire... these things will reduce the cracking, but concrete will have cracks in it.

That's a bit fricked up.
