Auto Windshield Crack question?

I just got a crack in my wife’s new car. Has 5 cracks that are starting to run. It’s around the size of a nickel all together. Anyone had luck with getting a window crack professionally fixed?

We had a rock hit the windshield a few years back. It started to run almost immediately and kept getting worse. We were going to get it fixed, but they opted to just replace the windshield when they saw how bad it was. I don't remember if it was Safelite, I think it was a different company. They came out to the house and replaced the windshield in our driveway.

I've had much success with Permatex windshield repair kits.
I repaired a large (quarter size) star on my windshield seven years ago, still holding up and not spreading. I don't recall if it works on the bullseye type dings but for $20 it might be worth a try.
Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter.

My friend owns a windshield company in BTR, I bring everything there. Had a big rock chip, can't tell it's been repaired.

Your insurance company may pay the entire cost. Call in a claim.

I feel like I get at least a chip a year. This year it’s been at least three. I always get them repaired. Cost $50. If you have a couple they will normally do then both for $50 since they are already set up.
I go the the place behind the shopping center at Acadian and Perkins or Bengal Glass on Perkins.

The glass place less than a mile from the house is good for windshield repair. They can usually get it fixed to where it is not even noticeable.
The last rock hit though is obvious but it doesn’t run. It’s been like 3 years now and still just looks like a single rock hit.
Takes about 5 minutes or less for them to fix and insurance pays.

Same here. I think the kits are like $20 on Amazon.

Depending on the length and location of the cracks, most windshield repair techs will suggest you replace. Before all these windshields came with mirrors that added sensors needing calibration, your average replacement was under $200. Some will run you under $400 and that's still cheaper than the average $500 comprehensive deductible.
That being said, just about any autoglass replacement company should be able to do the job for you just fine. The price is roughly the same across the board. I would trust Safelite since they dealt with all of our (previous) company's glass replacement. Very rarely have we had an issue with sealing the glass properly, and this is after hundreds of glass replacements.

Chip repair is super easy. You can go sit for 40 minutes and have someone do it. Insurance will probably cover it. If not, they charge like $50-$75. Or you can order a kit on Amazon for $15 and do it in your driveway. Just need sunlight to activate the resin. It will not make a chip/crack dissappear. It only stops the spread.

Two things I hate.... a cracked windshield and inspection stickers. The latter being my #1.
I swear they are making cheaper windshields these days. I remember in the 80s, you damn near needed a wreck to crack a windshield.
