Having to move to Shreveport. Would like to find an apartment East of 49 and South of 20. Don't need all the amenities just in a safe neighborhood and clean. TIA!!! Also, if anyone knows of a good hunting club in the area looking for members, let me know. Only shoot mature deer.

The Boulders is probably your best bet. New, clean and in a safe location.

Apartment suggestions in Shreveport

Are you absolutely opposed to renting a house? Would look for a cottage in South Highlands or Broadmoor, or a garage apartment in South Highlands, though not sure what budget is. If intent on Apt. agree w/ above on the Boulders on Fern Ave. extension

The Boulders is a nice spot. Island Park on Clyde Fant is also pretty centrally located and safe. It has a natural buffer from any foot traffic. There's another apartment complex right by there too but I can't remember name.

Agree with others on renting in Broadmoor or South Highlands. Stay south of Kings Highway and east of Fairfield if you're looking for that.

If you want safety just look across the bridge to Bossier City. Shreveport has serious crime problems everywhere.

Good recs above. Some of the people I work with have lived at Coates Bluff at Wright Island Apartments. They seemed happy with it. Pretty new, and very convenient to the trail along the river and downtown if you are working there.

If you are working downtown, there are several rental units in the old office buildings that have been converted. It's not for everyone, but I've known some who liked it.

Ogilvie Hardware Lofts looks cool on the edge of downtown, but not sure if those are condos or apts.

Wow, my impression from who markets them and the pics I've seen is that its a gentrification type of project. Never been in one though.

Wife lived in spring lake for 2 years, easy access to the 3 major highways and very close to twisted root.

Its a gated community in a very nice neighborhood. The apartments are kind of on the older side but it wasn't that bad in my opinion. She and I both enjoyed it there

The surrounding area isn't the best, but its Shreveport....

Spring Lake isn't gated, and you aren't going to find any smaller homes for rent, though there is an older apartment complex at its southern border that does have gated entry.

With regards to crime, very little violent crime that isn't confined to the worst poverty stricken neighborhoods and the overwhelming majority of that is drug related (whats new for urban communities with significant portion of population below the poverty line?). There is some property crime at the fringes of the nice neighborhoods, mostly people looking for open car doors or raiding open carports or sheds, but unless you are in the game or looking for trouble it is not any more of dangerous city than any of the other larger cities in La or the south for that matter.

No, the flight of tens of thousands of Shreveporters (including me) to Bossier is because of the huge difference in policing and crime.
Shreveport is shrinking fast. Bossier is the fastest growing parish in La. Look it up.
Shreveport is becoming Jackson, Miss.

What? you need a code to get through the gate and the end entire complex has a gate around it. I cant imagine they removed it since we've moved...

Shreveport and Bossiers crime stats per capita are almost identical.

Stop making shite up.

That is a huge lie. The Shreveport murder rate and property crime rate is double the US average per capita.
The Bossier rate is far below the national average.
