How often do you use it? How long does it take to make a difference? Is it expensive to run? Thanks.

My brother has two of these spraying in his pool to keep it cool. I swear that water was 60 degrees last week. It kept it colder than I like pool water.

Bingo. We attach a flower fountain to one return jet in the summer to keep the pool water cool.

We looked into one when building our pool, if you have a limited amount of space it can be an issue on your pool pad, they’re pretty massive. They make a combo chiller heater but from what I read neither is as good as the stand alone alternative.

We ended up just doing a couple of the pvc ones pictures above and they do a surprisingly good job.

I have 2 jets on my pool. Do I get one for each, or do I want to keep one for circulating water?

They attach to the jets so not losing any circulation

I mean pressure to move the water around and push trash into the skimmer.

How hot is the pool getting? I must be a lunatic but even when my water gets to 90 I enjoy it. Feels cool compared to ambient air and no cold shock getting in.

I did get in a pool once some years ago that felt like I was lowering myself into a vat of football team sweat, so ya that should be avoided.

The jets don’t work like that, the water is drawn through the skimmer by the pressure created by the pump.

But if the jets are pointed correctly, they help circulate the water around so debris will pass by the skimmer.

Funny how polarizing a few degrees can be. Same with AC I suppose. Ours has been in the 90 range and I find it hot. My wife loves it. I just bought one of those sprinkler do-dads to hook it up and see how one works. I'd be happy with just a few degree drop.

My only fear is my two wild monsters will hold onto it and break my plumbing.

How long has it been hooked up?

Correct, think of the skimmer as a drain, water is sucked in through them.

I believe his concern is that if he occupies one of his two jets, he won't have a good circulation flow. The jets should ideally be pointed to create a rotation to help direct floaties all around and eventually into the skimmers to get sucked down. A bit of a cyclone action to facilitate skimming floating debris.

I have an Aqua Cal heat ‘n chill. This is my second summer with a pool. We didn’t need to use the chiller last summer. I just checked and my water temp is 91 and air temp is 96. Just switched it into chill mode set for 84. I’ll keep you updated how long it takes.

Please do.

Realistically, how much difference do these fountains make?

How would 2 “jets” be arranged to create rotation?

The Returns should be properly spaced to return water to all areas of the pool (most suggest at least 1 per wall) but it does not matter if the water is returned under the water via “jets” or above the water via a waterfall, a fountain, or the pvc contraption mentioned above. Water leaves via the skimmer (or bottom drain) and is added back via the “returns”.

The “jets” are not forcing water into the skimmer.
