Any solutions to algae on back patio concrete?Posted by BallsEleven
on 1/12/21 at 6:35 pm

My covered patio faces the north so I have to pressure wash a few times throughout the year and should probably do it more often.
Is there anything I can do to spread out the time in between deep cleanings?
Paint the concrete?

Paint might make it slippery. There are some mold inhibitor cleaners. Not sure how good they work but might be worth a shot.

Turn your house around to face South. Lol.
I guess maybe a bleach solution occasionally?

You will have to reapply every now and then, but this stuff works. Had some algae/moss on my roof that faces north and sprayed it on, few and it was gone in few days.

Pool chlorine granules.
Wet concrete, sprinkle chlorine lightly, use rubber gloves.
Let sit, over night if possible. Keep it moist but no runoff.
Next day hose off with plenty of water.
Might have to do it once a year.

Straight bleach and a hand sprayer
Don’t bother mixing it with any of those other mildew concentrates.

This.. if it is Algae that means standing water and a little granulated chlorine will keep it at bay

I have concrete that I needed to pressure wash ever 2 years or so. About 6 months after pressure washing and the concrete was still clean, I took a flower watering can, fill it about 2/3's water and 1/3 clorox. I sprinkle that about every 6 to 9 months and now I never need to pressure wash.
