Without cutting cement for a drain is there a way to add an ice maker and use the sink drain?

It probably depends. How far would the ice machine be placed from the sink drain?

Some ice machines are equipped with a collection tank and a pump. The pump can send the melted ice water to sink drain. As mentioned the ice machine will need to be fairly near a sink drain. I had this setup for my undercounter ice machine.

On another note I will never have another one of these machines. My experience is they just don’t last and they are very expensive.

As a side note: has anyone who installed an ice machine been happy with that decision?

Our big-dollar undercabinet ice maker was constant trouble.

Swapped it out for a wine fridge, stocked the thing with beer, and never regretted it.

ETA: sites like ajmadison.com have detailed size search so you can find a nice undercabinet fridge to fit almost anywhere.

Mine had that and the pump was noisy. I removed the pump and connected it directly under the house (crawlspace) into the plumbing. No issues now.

I am planning on putting a large one in my new shop. Im talking something that can hold 150-200 pounds of Ice

Been doing some research. Have not picked one out yet but from what I have read, I need the cubes and not the shaved.. Apparently the shaved ice uses some kind of worm gear mechanism that does not last long

Some company will eventually go to market with an affordable and reliable ice machine and they’re going to make so much money.

I had a Uline under counter for 6 years and loved it. Never regretted and no problems.

Undercounted ice machine are notorious for breaking/ crapping out. Get a stand alone and put it in your shop or garage. You have the added bonus of bulk ice.

I’m not looking for an under counter. I could use a stand alone, but smaller size. Can put close to sink for the drain also.

Any recommendations?

Buy a brand that a local appliance store will service/you can find parts for. And be ready for your neighborhood friends to borrow ice

Go to your local restaurant supply place and have a look.

We got a Hozisaki, and its worked great.

DO your research. You'll want something that's going to last and easy to get part to fix yourself.

The clear ice machines use a lot of water and do not refrigerate, so the ice constantly melts. Its just an insulated bin. You either have to gravity drain which is MUCH preferred or have a pump. They do make regular ice maker like your traditional freezer that are undercounter so you have extra ice and they do NOT need a drain. But the ice is not as good but its fine its just like your avg freezer ice. But they don't make nearly as much ice either, like 25% as much a day.

For those whom complain they’re a headache, put a water filter on the feed line and it drastically helps with issues.

I’ve done a lot of outdoor kitchens for people. The ice maker is always a regret. Constantly broken

So you have sewer gas back feeding into your ice maker? Ice makers have indirect connections to prevent contamination. If you don't have an air gap and that sewer line ever backs up you'll be throwing that ice maker to the curb with a biohazard sticker (hopefully before anyone grabs ice)

Even with a check valve installed in line?
