A/C Condenser fan question - Where to pick up a capacitor

My compressor is kicking on and off, I can hear it buzzing, but the fan on the top of the unit isn't. Is that usually the capacitor or is that usually the contactor switch, or should I get both? I'm pretty sure that's the capacitor but I'm just making sure. Also, where's a good place in Baton Rouge to call for a capacitor? Does Notoco sell ac parts? Maybe a hardware store y'all know of? It's too late to order one on Amazon. Thanks!

There’s an HVAC store off Florida that sells them to people without a license. Ideal Parts A/C And Appliance I think is the name.
Take your old one in and buy more than one. They’re not expensive.

Call AC guy. They need to eat too.
Supply houses are not supposed to sell retail. They work on monthly billing. No cash registers.
On line sales, we cannot control. Appliance stores and Ace Hdwre we cannot control.

They also rip you the frick off. If the guy thinks he can do it himself why not do it

Then they can eat a dick. Stop charging people $150 for a 10 minute job that requires a few screws.

Eat what filet mignon. Or pay those big truck notes with the expensive wrap.
Some of those guys are a—holes for tricking grannies into believing they need a whole new system for 15k when they just need a part changed.
I need to be looking for a new system in the next few years, but I am going to try riding my system till it dies once we get to some semblance of normalcy on the refrigerant front. I know R-22 is out. Systems with 410A are going out. What will be the next refrigerant to come on down and not cost more than gold, twenty years after the system was installed, because the EPA banned that refrigerant too.

Just order online. I just recently ordered one myself. Probably one of the simplest things to change out and they only cost 30-40 bucks. AC guy is going to charge you 300 easy. It's a scam.

Is the bastard frozen up? Down in the outside unit? The compressor? If it were, rig you up a water hose hitting it square in the middle of the top, medium stream. About twenty minutes of that action and you should be back in business.

Make sure the motor isn’t locked up before that. Spin in with a screw driver on the fan blades.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go by ideal today and see if they have one. I'm still open to suggested places that'll sell me one if they don't have it. I took a picture of my capacitor label to show them the specs. It looks like 1 screw to hold the clamp and a few spade connector wires to plug in.
I get that ac guys have to eat too but a $20 capacitor? It's not a good time in anyone's house right now in this economy so I'm going to give swapping that capacitor myself a shot and put that saved money towards my outrageous homeowners insurance bill.

Swapping a capacitor is one of the easiest repair jobs you can do on your own and is substantially cheaper than calling a company.

Just make sure you pull the switch before working on it.

I called mine and he said I might as well try replacing the capacitor before sending someone out. Most common problem and only costs $20. Worst case scenario, I reset the lifespan on the capacitor and extend when it would need to be replaced anyway

It spins very freely. No strange noise or anything. I just went out there and spun it like you suggested.

Hope it’s not under the manuf warranty.
Non OEM parts will void the entire warranty.

If they have a choice of US or China made capacitor, go with the US one. It may cost a few more dollars but will be well worth it not having to change it out sooner.

Don’t forget to discharge the old one before handling it
Also Coburn’s or grainger should have what you are looking for
