Should have gone to a better Ag school.

I only covered my garlic. I watered the beds before the temps dropped and they were like permafrost yesterday. It's supposed to finally get above freezing today. Everything in my seed trays have sprouted except the onions.

My tomato seeds have a mind of their own this year. Some of them came up 3 days after I planted them. Some are just now coming up now and I planted them two weeks ago.
I have a few heads of garlic rooting out now that I'll transplant in a few days. Do you guys usually put these in beds, pots or just out with the onions?

Uncovered everything yesterday in a balmy 38 degrees and drizzle. Only casualty is a broccoli head that was starting to form. Potatoes will go in the ground this afternoon. Don’t think they missed too much growth production not being in the ground for the freezing weather this week. I am eyeing next weekend to roll the dice and put some tomatoes in the ground.

Potatoes are in: White Kennebec, Red Pontiac, Yukon Gold, Red Lasoda, and Adirondack Blues (aka the little purple ones).
You can see my progress on reclaiming rows from this past summer and fall. Got 2 more rows to go but they at least had clay pea ground cover.

My seedlings stalled out before I potted them up, but they're finally getting going.
I've used these Orta seed starters for years and I really like them, but I'm starting to feel like they keep the seed starting mix too wet. I feel like I've had to pot up more quickly the last 2-3 years. Still hoping to get stuff in the ground 3rd week of March or so. I just may not be able to top as many peppers as I normally do.

Put tomato plants in the ground 2/25, potatoes 2/15. Green beans ready for 2/28 and corn 3/2. Everything else is as I can get to it due to worry about freezes!!

Seeds are cheap. Rip it and go.

Planted my tomatoes today. Celebrity Plus and Super sweet 100s. Also started my Dasher 2 seeds.

Will probably transplant my maters from the seed starter trays to 3" pots in the next few days.
Got the garlic rooted out and ready for transplant. Seeded out the peppers this weekend. I have lots of varieties I've never grown before I'm looking forward to playing around.
Will probably seed out cukes this week just for grins.

I put all of my plants outside yesterday to start hardening them off. Weather has been beautiful all weekend. Would’ve been a perfect opportunity to get out in the garden and start cleaning up. Unfortunately I’ve been stuck at work.
Last week I sent soil samples to the LSU soil lab, so I’m anxiously awaiting those results.

Went yesterday and it was a mad house. Then had to go back today because i absolutely suck at estimating how much soil and mulch I need

And we’re off! Family day in the garden cleaned up the rest of the planting rows. I’ll finish with the landscaping fabric next weekend. Dressed up with some mushroom compost. Planted about 9 tomatoes, 3 pepper plants, zucchini, squash, and first flight of green beans. Daughter cleaned out the strawberry row of all the dead or freeze damaged fruit and leaves. Wind was blowing like crazy today after a beautiful Saturday.

Got onions planted and rest of the beds are ready to be planted when it warms up a bit. Waited until Mother’s Day last year to plant. I’m going to bump that up about 4 weeks this year.

Sure as I plant early we'll get a damn April snow storm.
