Thanks.

I have seen some with the single red feather and just thought it was some kind of anomaly. I just feed them and haven't done much research.

How long does the fall hummingbird activity usually last? We are getting quite a few birds, probably a dozen or so. Kids are loving it

A couple of weeks around here and it will be over. I may have seen peak activity already. It's generally early to mid October for the migrating birds.

Yes. Once we get to October, I drop from 6 feeders to 3. After about a week of that, I drop to only one and that one is there solely in hopes of a Rufous. I almost always get at least one that sticks around for a week or maybe two. Once he/she leaves, feeders come down until March.

I still have a few hummers, but they may be leaving this week when the low temps get into the low 50's.

Refilling 4 feeders on my patio......this will be the last fill up...greystone area denham. There a couple of them that sits on one feeder and attempts to run away the remaining three feeders.. mean little buggers.

Pretty significant departure over night. Numbers will continue to dwindle from here to first week of October. OTOH, I am getting various warblers, buntings, grosbeaks and Northern Water Thrushes along my bayou.

My numbers dropped significantly today in Tupelo. Last Friday was the peak when they drank about 100 ounces for the day. This Friday maybe 15-20 ounces. I will reduce my feeders from 5 down to 2 Monday until what's left or passing through are gone.

Speaking of rufous, does anyone know of any areas where they can be found in fall and winter? Numerous sources say that many stay along the coast here in Louisiana, but I'd like to know if there is anywhere I could go to try to get pictures...TIA

If you have Facebook, join La. Birds. Seems like I see posts every year from South of I10.

Hate to hear this…I really have enjoyed this season! It always surprises me how quickly they move out!

I still have two hanging around the one feeder. The lows has warmed up back into the 60's.

I am down to a lone hummingbird. With the cool front coming later this week it will be most likely leaving. At least it should. I don't want to take in the feeder being it sits right there most of the time.

I haven't got my normal swarms either. Wondering if its due to the warm weather and limited fronts we've got so far if it maybe backed up their migration or something and they just haven't made it here yet. Gonna keep the feeders full for the next couple weeks just in case.
