Sell seeing one or two stragglers but this cool snap probably sent those South.

took my feeder down, father in law said if you leave the feeders too long they may not move on like they should

Simply not true.

the availability of feeders has no influence on their migration...the main factor is the shortening of daylight hours...they are hard-wired to migrate when the time is right...

I saw 1 straggler today...the first in almost a week. Hitting my butterfly bush instead of the feeders.

I think it's done here.

I think my regulars are gone, but I saw a straggler this morning. It fed on the feeder for a long time and he was gone.

Same. (Mandeville). Haven't seen any in a week or so. Most we saw in one day this year was 4 (at same time I'm talking about). Last year we had several days with 8-10 visible at one time.

Was it a lighter season for everyone else?

We usually have two runs of having 20-30 hummingbirds with 5-6 hanging around all summer. This year, two runs of 10 or so and just a couple hanging around all summer. It was short and light this year.

Haven’t seen one in more than a week….I guess I am done here. Probably take down all but one feeder tomorrow.

mine are put away for the winter, traded those out for sunflower seed feeders. The squirrels are busy with acorns right now and insect populations will decline quickly so a boost for the songbirds is needed

I have one hold out here in BR. Was taking them all down the other day when I saw it. It’s still feeding.

I have seen no birds in two weeks. It is supposed to freeze here next week, so I took my last feeder down today. I’ll pick back up in the spring of next year.

Mandeville).

My mom has a friend in Mandeville that bands hummingbirds. She has a sanctuary for them at her house and every year more and more migrate to her house for banding.
