Like AlxTgr I have that same cheap grow system from Temu (with a grudge). All 4 trays and lights were $8. Can't go wrong.

Anyway, my question is how much light to give seeds in the beginning and then gradually as they age???

I found some really cool purple bell peppers at a store in BR last year and kept seeds. Obviously, it is a hybrid of some sort. Am I wasting my time with those?

Also, trying to grow some Hatch Green Chile like I did when living in Phoenix.

You can try as long as you treat it like a fun extra experiment. There's just a lot of variability and risk with using seeds from hybrid plants.

Agree. The seeds will grow, but there’s no telling what kind of fruit you’ll get. It most likely won’t be the same as the parent plant.

It’s part of the fun! Who cares if you have the room to experiment?

I started my tomato seeds yesterday too. I'm only doing determinates this year. With Little Miss Juice around, I won't have the time that I did last year. Doing a Roma and a heinz hybrid for jarring.

You have a little daughter?? How old is she? You should be really nice to her because she is your new boss.

She's almost 6 months. And I live in a delusional world where I think she'll be in the garden picking weeds for me by summer.

Another question. How cool can the house be for the seeds to germinate? I have heating pads coming in, but didn't think about that until after I ordered the grow box thingies.

If it's been too cool, are the seeds ok after a week in the jiffy 7s?

Went and pulled all the plants killed by freeze in garden. Much to my surprise, I have a ton of cilantro in a grow bag that’s doing very well and parsley looks great too.

Last year my tomato seeds germinated fine on top of the fridge with no mat. It rarely got above 68 up there.

I bought the same set up as well. Just got back from Kansas and my tomatoes jumped. What should I do about this? They're pretty much touching the top. Thought about just hanging that light individually over the taller ones.

How long does it normally take peppers to sprout? I've had mine on a heat pad for 2 weeks and they haven't sprouted yet.

Just filled all my pots for my tomatoes. Will be planting those this weekend.

the peppers always take longer than you think they should. I get antsy and start digging around with a little stick or something to see if the seeds germinated and are working their way up.

I planted everything on 1/18, the peppers popped up around 1/26-1/27.
