Awesome!
I sowed my beans and cucumbers today. Beautiful day to be out in the garden! The darn blackberry bushes and my Meyer lemon tree were vibrating. I could hear it from 10 feet away there were so many bees in em!

What equipment are you using to capture such awesome shots?

Just my iPhone and some patience.

The bee pics are awesome. I'm sure it's a challenge chasing them around.

Thanks for the beet recs. Will report back... Beautiful day to be in the garden. Corn and tomatoes looking good. Something ate most of the bean sprouts, but the ones that came up look good. Cucumbers germinated well (not pictured). And harvested some more carrots.

I set up the Florida weave on my indeterminates. All of the cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, squash, and zucchini that I direct sowed have germinated. I plan to thin those after the seedlings get about a week under them. Looks like great weather for the plants this week.

Out of curiosity, what's everyone's hardiness zone? 9a here.

Love this time of year!
For me, my intent is to grow enough of what I plant to replace grocery store purchases. We're getting close, and I'm hoping this year achieves that goal.

Roly-poly’s are eating my pea and bean sprouts! Time for war!
Posted on 3/24/24 at 12:32 pm to NewIberiaHaircut
They're scavengers. I bet something else is eating your sprouts, and the roly polys are just cleaning up.
Posted on 3/24/24 at 12:40 pm to LSUJuice
Nope. They were all over them chewing the fresh leaves off.

9a at home, 7a at work. Just started prepping front bed and back yard for raised beds. Wind is blowing 30, with gusts to 45, high tomorrow is 39. Quite the change.

I'm tempted to go ahead and plant early. I ordered some plastic covered tunnels in case it gets cold. I wanna be able to pick my first tomato before y'all start pulling up your tomato plants.

Old man at tractor supply told me not to plant anything other than onions until May. Hell I got tomatoes on the vine at home.

May?
The old timer rule of thumb around here is "plant after Easter". But every time I wait for the "right time", it rains and I'm delayed by a week or more. I'm just gonna go for it. If something bad happens, I'll go to the co-op & buy replacement heirlooms.
