Loup, you must have zero squirrels in your yard. They have played hell with my tomatoes for the past several years, stealing them before they can even get close to full size.
I have 7 or 8. One of my dogs keeps them off of the ground for the most part. They dug up all of my squash seedlings earlier this year. Haven't really had a problem with them and tomatoes, though.

Thanks! It made my morning.

I think I might have found what's wrong with my acorn squash. It's grown well, flowered a lot, but all the fruit gets a fuzz on it and rots off. I kept getting told they weren't being pollinated but it didn't make sense that they'd ALL not get pollinated. Choanephora Flower and Fruit Rot: Ag Center Link
I treated with a copper fungicide but am also pulling the flower ends off as soon as they develop the fuzz. If they keep rotting I'm going to pull the plant this weekend. Hopefully I don't have the same problem with all of the scallop squash I just planted.
I love these Corbaci peppers. I blister them like Shishitos. I think these and the Jimmy Nardellos are my favorites as far as flavor goes.

My watermelon vines are growing like crazy with a decent amount of flowers on them but no fruit. I’ve read that this might mean I’ve given them too much nitrogen too quickly, but is there anything else I can be doing to help other than chilling out with the miracle grow for a period of time?

Have you tried hand pollinating the flowers? Maybe the heat is killing them?

Just recently uncovered my pumpkins because they are flowering and were outgrowing the hoop house. It's only been a few days and they are already riddled with SVB eggs.
Looks like I'll be out there with a pair of tweezers picking off and squishing as many as I can find this afternoon.
Screw it, I'll be rotating sprays of liquid sevin and bonide eight. I'll probably tank mix the Bt with them, too.

Anyone here grown butternut squash? I have some seeds I am going to plant. How much space does each plant need and are squash vine borers really that bad?

I tried growing them this spring but didn’t have much success with them. They’re supposed to be semi resistant to the borers, but I did have some problems with them on the butternut vines.
Vine borers can be controlled, but it takes vigilance. Squash varieties that send down roots at each node along the vines are more likely to resist damage.

Same here. No borer issues but they just didn’t do very well for the spring/summer. Going to plant more for the fall.

Does one pull indeterminate tomatoes or try to keep the plants alive for fall?

I'm going to try cutting mine back to about 2' tall and see if they come back. They're a mess at this point so I'd like to get a fresh start with staking them.

Supposedly you can clip off a sucker, and it'll root in water. Then you can replant in fall. Worth a shot if you were going to cut it back anyway. I've never tried it, but saw it on the epic gardening youtube channel.
As for butternuts I've got some seed starts in soil blocks now. I had read that svb only have one life cycle per year, so could have less of an issue in the fall?
Let's see how we do

When half of mine froze in March I started a couple new ones with suckers. Worked well

Hit the jackpot this morning at the local plant store. Seed packets for 20 for $15. Loaded up on pumpkins, some different black eyed peas, some fall peas to try, acorn squash, and a ton of cut flowers for the fall.
In other news I am about to try some juicy fruit gum to control some pocket gophers. That damn watermelon still doesn’t have a brown stem.
Also made a great trade with a fellow Spring Garden thread member: some 1015 Super Sweet, Texas early white, yellow granex, and red creole onions along with red losoda, purple, and russet potatoes for some local blackberry and wildflower honey.
Making fresh homemade buttermilk biscuits in the morning for it tomorrow.

I might’ve overreacted too quickly. My vines now have 5 or 6 watermelons that I’ve found.

I pulled all of my tomato plants except my cherries. Cut some of my peppers back and pulled a couple of others. I fertilized everything to get healthy for another push of fruits. I was going to start seeds for more tomatoes, but I think I’m gonna pass on the fall crop and focus on building my garden and getting it situated instead.

Indian Snake Beans, they've been fun. They're delicious when small but get tough once they get bigger. I have a couple that are ~4' long.
