First sweat through your shirt potato harvest. Probably have 2 more to go. Had a few stink bombs but not too bad. We covered with a real sandy topsoil this year so not very many goofball ones and the they are larger than previous years.

Looking fantastic as always!

Thanks dude . I'm happy with the turnaround after the early setback. Now I just need to decide whether I'm going to build the permanent garden before the fall, or wait to see how the sun behaves then too.

You really should. They are my favorite tomato taste-wise, and they look awesome.

We’re heading out of town for the weekend, so I’m out in the garden picking everything right now. Bees are all over the garden. Mostly bumblebees. But it is a pleasant surprise to see honeybees all over the sunflowers right now. Hard to get good pictures when the sunflowers are 8+ feet tall, but I did my best.

Edit to add a few more:

What variety of sunflower are those? They're pretty.

One of my Arikaras is opening up now but it's only about 4 ft tall because the dogs kept it pruned.

Mammoth. These were grown from seeds that I saved last year, too.

Blue, All of your tomatoes look great- have no idea of the flavor profile of the black ones but they are positively healthy and happy

I decided against thornless blackberries because I'd hoped the thorns would keep my dogs from eating them. I was wrong. Now I don't have blackberries and I'm all scraped up from pruning them.

Anybody know what this fuzzy little fellow on my beans is? I suspect he's not friendly to the garden or the gardener.

Also beans are still going strong. I thought they'd be done by now, but even the bush beans have a flush of new growth and flowers. But I guess we've been lucky at only 88-90, and they'll go once we're consistently 92-95.

Checked the hives today now that the tallow flow is over. Supers are full of capped honey. Beautiful sight.

And now that the corn is done, and the tomatoes are close behind, time to plan the next succession. Okra will follow the corn, and eggplant will go in the tomato bed. Plan is for there to be some overlap for what's left of the tomatoes and corn to shade the new transplants while they get established.

It has been very dry in Covington too. Irrigation has been keeping up, but the plants and the yard need some good rain.

It’s finally raining at my house. Just started. It’s been a couple of weeks at least. Definitely need it.

All of my tomato pants are indeterminates. If I cut them down in July will they come back and produce again in the fall? They usually end up being a mess once it gets really hot.

I have a hibiscus that I really really want to keep alive but something is going on with it. It was blooming like crazy but now one of the three main branches has died. Completely dried up and had some black coloring on the inside. It's in the ground, not potted.

No idea what killed that section. I'm debating adding some pesticide/insecticide but I don't want to do it if it doesn't need it. So frustrating because this plant has a ton of sentimental value to me.

My tomatoes have taken off again. I dont know if it is the rain, the fertilizer or consistent watering. But they are setting new fruit. I am sure the heat will knock em back, but maybe I can get a few more out of them.

Picked some shishito peppers today. This is from 2 plants. Glad I didn’t plant more than that.

Garden is still bringing the produce in. I need more hours in the day!

Gotta be honest, I might be able to eat that pile in one sitting. I cooked 20 to go with dinner tonight and wanted more.

Hell of a haul

I know what you mean. I’m blistering about half that pile right now.
