I’m building a shop in the back of my property. I’ve been renovating my yard in sections and several dump trucks/equipment had to cross renovated areas of Bermuda.

What’s the best way to get rid of the “ruts” that are left? The grass isn’t torn up, it’s just depressions from the tires.

Can I roll the areas after a rain? I know it’ll compact it a bit, but I can aerate it after to try to relieve it. I could also backfill with dirt to level it out, but then the grass will have to fight back through.

Contractors sand.

I’ll reply here instead of starting a new thread, but my neighbor came to me asking how I have no weeds. His yard is covered in clovers, easy to kill imo, but I’m wondering if ifs too late to do winter cocktail or should pre emergent do it? I’ve offered to spray for him because his yard is smallish like mine, but I want to make sure I do him right.

Fescue grass

Fescue is a cool season grass. So be wary of some of the herbicides and tips posted so far as they may not be labeled for weed control in your fescue, additionally there are practices such as overseeding that's done mostly for cool season grasses that you won't see done for warm season grass. most of us here will have warm season grass. although I am doing a trial run of some spf-30 Kentucky blue grass this year in my backyard to see if I can get it to survive the heat where I'm at.

In any case, you're in a transition zone, so you do need read the labels carefully on the items you pick up at the big box store, as they may be selling some items for southern/warm season grasses and other for fescue/cool season grasses. Scott's makes a triple action for both I believe so just need to read what you have. I made this mistake when I lived in Virginia before I knew anything about grass or products for grass.

In general though, you'll find most people will not recommend that you do combo applications of weed and feed because killing weeds and appropriate time to fertilize may not always coincide.

Aeration.

Doing a core aeration (one that generates plugs) is your best bet you can rent one from home Depot and get it done quick.

The aerators that are just spikes or the shoe spikes dont do much. If it's just a small spot, you can get a manual yard butler and aerate those spots.

Lastly some people believe in the liquid aeration but I don't think there's anything that beats the actual core aeration.

A little centipede and lots of weeds.

You want some moisture in the soil to aerate but it doesn’t have to be after a rain.

Zoysia lawn here. Best Pre-emergent to use and when do apply it? Now? Before or after first cut?
