Mine are on the downhill slide, too. I sprayed with peroxide las night (finally found some). But I don’t imagine I’ll put too much effort from here on.

I plan on pulling mine at the end of the month.

My Carmens are not turning red. I have never had this issue. Any ideas? They are big as buffalo horns but not turning.

That's how I've gotten over tomatoes these past several years now. I have a fair size garden with 5 rows 50 ft. long but I've had tomatoes planted over the entire garden over the years and I no longer have the success I once did with them. Especially when it gets to be this time of year.
I just came out of my garden and picked a few cucumbers and some okra but the biggest harvest was on my yard long beans where I'm averaging 60 a day for the past week.
Once the okra gets a big bigger, I will be pulling a bunch of that every day since I have right at 50 plants now. I decided to only plant 3 partial rows instead of 4 this year since I still have some smothered okra in my freezer from last years garden.

My yard longs have been producing like crazy too. I actually blanched some and froze them. Haven't ever tried that. We have eaten a ton and given a ton away.
I think yard long beans could solve world hunger.

Mine seem to be taking a while also. I don’t know why. I’ve picked a handful off of 5 plants. I didn’t really have any expectations, so I thought that was normal.
When will it be time to start seeds for fall tomatoes? July? I guess I need to go and look at the LSU ag planting guide.

LSU ag planting guide.

With fall-planted tomatoes, the strategy is to harvest a good crop before a killing frost takes your plants. Since soils are so warm, seeds can be directly seeded in the garden row or in containers and later transplanted. In north Louisiana, sow seeds the end of June or transplant in July. In south Louisiana, sow seeds by mid-July and transplant in August. The ideal transplant is as wide as it

Yep, just got done reading that. Thank you!
I guess I better start finding seeds. Mid July will sneak up quick.

Yeah I wouldn't mind trying out some determinates for the fall.

True this. I love to smother them down just like any other green bean and also love them grilled as they are excellent fixed that way.
Just cut them in 6-8 inch lengths, get the grill hot, hit the beans with some olive oil so the seasoning will stick and grill like any other vegetable. I also do this with okra and it's a huge hit.

First year with yard long beans...what size is best to pick them?
Posted on 6/10/20 at 10:52 am to Bill Parker?
I let them go to 20+ inches long. If you leave them on too long the pods get real puffy looking and very soft as the seeds inside develop and I don't use those.
Also, before you pull the vines, let some get to the above look with large seeds inside very light green pods, pick them and let them dry out somewhere so water can't get to them then save the seeds for next year. I haven't bought seeds in 10 years. Same with okra---let a few pods get real big, pull them off the plant to dry and save the seeds.

I'm going to try and make some pickles tonight. Pillage, I went ahead and just bought the mix that you suggested. No need to try and get to fancy the first try!
One question though, do you have to sterilize the jars if you are just going to put them immediately in the fridge to enjoy a couple days later? I'm new to this so forgive me if that is a dumb question!

I don't bother sterilizing if I'm making fridge pickles. I just wash the jars with soap and water and dry them out.

I always sterilize, but I also let them sit atleast 4 weeks. Don't think they would get hardly any pickling in just 2 days.

Let them sit for a while like said.

Any of you gentlemen know what’s going on here with my Pepper plant? This happened today I believe. I checked the other leaves real good but did not see bugs/flys/caterpillars.

Yep. Looks like that’s the culprit. Now to kill these little bastards
Thanks for the info.

I was able to make 4 jars of pickles last night. I'll let them sit for a week before I open the first jar. I will let the other 3 age some more, but I'm too antsy to see if I screwed them up to not at least open one!
