Why can't music or food be talked about on here

Is this a music or food board?

Don't know if you're really as new as your username suggests, but here's an honest opinion...

It used to be that way: a variety of topics were discussed here, including music, food, health, tech, books, and content from some of the other boards. It made the OT more stimulating and thread topics continuously refreshed so there was always something new and interesting.

That was also the downside. Sometimes interesting threads were on page 1 for as little as 5-10 minutes before they got bumped to page 2 or 3 and they were barely seen before they were out of sight. Over time, people with strong interest in some topics (like music) lobbied for separate boards so people with similar interests would have more time to see these threads after work without having to hunt through the first few pages of the OT.

It has made the OT itself a little more limited and stale. But some of the other boards have stronger communities now, which is beneficial to members here with those interests. And some topics persist on these other boards in a way that wouldn't happen if they were concentrated here.

There are pros and cons to both formats.
