Okay, thanks.

I agree with you those are 'pretty tame' posts compared to the flaming ones that get posted but I'm trying to learn what the limits are for RA'ing posts which disparage players.

I see no good purpose served having posters saying they are happy a player is leaving when I know for a fact that friends and family members of players and recruits read this board.

ETA: FTR, I have not RA'd those posts.

all of the Rant posters who bash our players' decisions to leave? That Board in itself really hurts our recruiting with all the negativity

Oh good God. The opinions of an internet message board does not impact recruiting. Your opinions are not as important as you or anyone else think they are. Get over yourself, and quit whining.

I don't want Chicken to get the big head, but TD is not just some "internet message board."

It is THE best college sports message board and one of the most widely read boards. Fans from all over the country are regular posters on it. It's quoted in the media.

Hell, I believe the O-T thread about the girl being murdered in Lafayette two years ago was partly responsible for solving the crime because of the widespread dissemination of information about the truck that hit her bicycle.

If you don't think family and friends of recruits and current players (and supporters of competing teams, too) don't read TD.com and talk about what they read, I think you are severely underestimating the widespread audience and influence of TigerDroppings.

He is correct in his assessment.

ETA: I would have just ignored the RA on those two links.

You need to get better informed.

TD has been quoted in the NY Times, by ESPN and by SI and has been referred to many times by locally based TV sports shows.

Learn before you write something and make yourself look foolish.

Thanks, and I will learn from that.

But posts like those make me cringe sometimes when I think they might be read by or repeated to a player or recruit or their parents. Those types of posts make me wish that TD was NOT so widely read by lurkers.

Give me a fricking link where a recruit was swayed based on the rantings of one retard on the recruiting board.

I enjoy this website, but i do not take it seriously in thinking that it will impact a recruit's decision to go to LSU. It's pretty fricking conceited to think that. Do you really think this is the thought process of a recruit?

1) Ask Mom and Dad about school choices
2) Ask tigerdroppings about school choices
3) Ask coaches about school choices
4) talk with recruiters
5) schedule visits with recruiters
6) Attend college games at different universities
7) Weigh the programs needs vs. playing time vs. academics

You really truly believe, anonymous posts from tigerdroppings sways a recruit?

I think it is possible, yes, I do. Certainly not every recruit. Not even a majority of recruits.

But I think YOU are the naive one if you believe TD.com is not read by family and friends of recruits or current players.

I think it's possible that a recruit could see venom on here, and say something along the lines of "whoa, LSU fans really rip the shite out of their players, why would I wanna play there?" Is that unfathomable? It's just better not to give anyone the chance to say something like that.

I don't believe that is fathomable. Maybe i give the average human more credit, but you have to truly be a thin skinned, pansy to let what an ANONYMOUS person who may or may not even be a fan of LSU, sway a decision as important as what college you attend.

I think some of you just believe that TD has way more power than it does. Our comments aren't worth shite, in the long run. Because they are ANONYMOUS. Anyone can type any combination of inane dribble and claim it to be fact, but have it simply be based on opinions.

Chicken really has his claws sunk deep in you guys.

I never understand why someone would support others being assholes just because they can be. Not everyone is as hard/self confident/unflappable as you are. Sometimes people are bothered by people ripping on them even if they do it namelessly and facelessly.

I don't think TD has power over anyone, I think words can hurt...whether you know who said them or not.

For future reference, the word is "drivel." You dribble a basketball.

18 year old high school students are not "average humans." At least not average adult humans. They are kids. They have grown up living with and believing in social media communications. They read posts from 'anonymous' people on Twitter or FB and they take it very seriously. Plus, they are treated like super stars in high school and they are not used to thinking their own fans will flame them if they come to LSU.

Because they are ANONYMOUS.
They are NOT anonymous when there is an "LSU" emblem next to a poster's screen name. All a kid has to think is an LSU fan is criticizing an LSU player, recruit or coach.

I agree. You have just proven that....
