Can we have a certain number of downvotes auto-anchor/lock the post?

The Randall saga has me annoyed, then I saw 28 downvotes.
I know the up/downvoting system has it's own uses but I think a great use of the downvote would be like a high number of downvotes would auto-anchor posts. (on the flip side a HUGE number of upvotes could maybe get an a hour sticky, but this post isn't for that) This would weed out trolls and attention starved, little substance posts like the randall saga.
The number could be 50+ Maybe with a huge number of downvotes even locking the post (100+) I realize this might be abused so anchoring is really what I'm talking about, the other ideas are just me throwing stuff out there.
Just a thought.

It sure would help clean up the SEC Rant. That board is completely useless now thanks to a handfull of aggie posters.

No.
Those threads are great and what makes this place successful. More people read and post on the OT for entertainment than others do for actual legit discussion and help.
Besides, you're free to ignore the threads, not post in them and even not open them.
Quit hating on free speech and the right to communal discourse.
What part of this do you not understand?

be best just to do away with downvotes, IMO.

I'd like to see my upvote/downvote ratio.

If those threads bother you don't read them. It's a free country.

I use my upvotes as digital currency.

At this point I'm hoping it at least serves any purpose greater than letting certain posters know how much they suck. Basically any actual purpose.

No because sometimes unpopular but legitimate opinions get downvoted into oblivion anyway.

The only thing I can figure is a vote amounts to a click on the site which relates to advertising.
Otherwise, no useful purpose that I can see. There are trolls who stalk and just down vote for fun. I rarely look at them unless votes are mentioned in a post. Honestly, I don't know why people care about them at all. People down vote a kid with cancer thread for crying out loud.

Good post. I thought the Randall threads were stupid so I did not read them. But, I didn't ask for an anchor or lock, or that the poster be disciplined in some way by the admins. This is the way it should be here. Don't like something - don't read it.
