I love my schwinn IC4. Just as good quality as pelaton without the screen and other razzle dazzles. less than half the price and digital pelaton is only like 12 months but 40 i fhink if you have the atcual pelaton bike. The IC4 still conects to peloton digital for metrics snd shite too.

People need to realize that things like the mirror, peloton, tonal, concept2 rowers and bikes and online interactive classes are the future of fitness. People are busier than ever snd don't have the time or the desire to go to the gym
I think we're still in the early stages of this phenomenon, and it's hard to tell if it has legs and what the best way to utilize is, but I think you're dead right on the main point -- networked group exercise is going to end up big.

I don't think it can really substitute for the gym experience for a lot of people -- interacting with the regulars, interacting personally with the instructors, getting out of the house, etc., so maybe gym owners will find ways to emphasize their value and stay alive, but I think it can come close enough, even for those of us who would rather be in a gym.

No it’s the fact that those guys think coffee actually costs that much at Starbucks.

Just pointing out how clueless they can be

I was in the same boat. Went with the NordicTrack s22i. Better price point, and the biggest thing to me is that the trainer self adjusts the resistance. This bike also has the capability to adjust incline. The trainer does this for you as well. Not having to turn knobs during the ride was a huge plus for me. I use it daily and it has been a great investment so far.

Well it's usually coffee + some shitty breakfast item, and a $15 reload charge of the perks app every 2 days...So those guys aren't clueless, just experienced.

My wife and I both use our Peloton regularly and really like it. It's a solid piece of equipment. But I will confess I had used one several times at hotels while traveling pre-COVID and didn't want to chance not liking another brand so I didn't even look at other options.

A. Already bought the Peloton

B. As I've already pointed out, that completely defeats the purpose of why she wants HOME exercise equipment. She wants to stay HOME and workout because of the kids.

ETA:

And I've already "adjusted" our budget each month to get rid of a few things to offset the monthly cost.

Not even close to the same. Peloton is more than just the bike and the app telling you what to do.

I checked that out, I think. I think the metrics you get on the display are not all the ones you get one Peloton. Something was missing

Skip the bike and get that new $5k treadmill they just dropped.

Get her a gym membership. Less expensive and you can quit paying after she stops going.

I have purchased two "I'll use them every day" machines that I eventually had to give away virtually unused. Never again.

You made the right decision. Plus if you want to ride it (i assume) the Peloton adjusts to allow for multiple users. A road bike, not so much

John, don't waste your time.

The OT tends to be full of fatties that want to tell you that your way of exercising is stupid and expensive even though the thought of running a 5k would require months of preparation.*

*that's not a blanket statement, but I'm willing to bet it's more often right than it is wrong.

I think you can get a cup of coffee at starbucks for like $5. Latte is $10.

Well that's just not true, but don't let facts get in the way of your opinion.
