You would probably like the monolift and variety of barbells in the power room

Elitefts safety squat bar, Texas power bar (long thick squat one), okie deadlift bar, various rogue and hammer strength barbells

If you ever go on a weekend, I'm down for a good deadlifting or squat session

Place is huge.

I've only been there once when I competed in the 2014 LA Powerlifting meet on the indoor tennis courts. My first PL event ever.

Took first in my weight class and immediately retired.

Been there. The first floor has a gym with all of their old school equipment. Second floor has the nicer area with platforms, iirc.

I liked it a lot

I used to when I lived in Lafayette. It was a bit pricey, but the facility is freaking incredible. Never had a problem with getting access to equipment I wanted to use.

I basically grew up at Red's in the 80s/90s and try to make it there at least once/year (as I now live in Houston). Some of my best memories were my mom dropping me off with a friend or two during the summer for several hours. It's also the location of my only legitimate dunk on a regulation basketball goal as the court has pretty good spring.

I think the current out of town guest policy states that (if you live more than 40 miles outside of Laffy) you can get in without a member by paying the $15 daily fee. I'll probably try to go next weekend when I visit family.

How does it work if someone from outside 40 miles goes with a member ?

I know their guest policy used to be pretty lenient but they changed it up after Katrina

From the way it's listed on their website, I believe that it's $15/day regardless of whether you are inside or outside 40 miles. If you live inside 40 miles, you must have a member with you (and there may be an annual limit on # of visits). If you live outside 40 miles, you can go without a member.

There is also a weekly pass option (I think).

Since I only go about once/year, it seems like there is always something new. Red keeps improving and adding on constantly.
