Thanks! That’s all the general route we are going. Taking a lot of ideas from Fit4Racing and Dialed Health.
Most of the tabata or reverse tabata interval work he’s doing currently is on either sleds or assault bike, and yes… brutal.
Squats/deads are currently in routine and they’ve taught them at school in track/XC but probably wouldn’t hurt to get someone at the gym to work with him. I do both in my training but not confident teaching him (and coaching him as his dad is… tough hah).
Tough to find the time for regular training with school and him still trying to get on the bike time at skate park or jump park.
Thanks again!

Np, good luck to your boy. Hope he kills it in the upcoming enduro season.

Next question: anyone here have experience with a Specialized Aethos? Bicycle Shop in Baton Rouge has a new Aethos Pro sRam. I’m tempted to add a 2nd bike in the mix. Reviews say it’s a great ride.

I understand wanting to buy it if you live in the mountains but it is flatter than a pancake around here making its lightness irrelevant. Do you have a aero bike?

Have a Specialized Venge Pro.

Nice. Personally I would get a tarmac or a Supersix instead of the Atheos, but that’s just me.

Just curious, why not get the tarmac instead of the atheos?

Reading this thread makes me depressed. I went from 200 miles a week from 2018 to 2020 and literally zero this year. Work. Life. Etc. sucks.

Get a smart trainer brah. It’s the only way to keep the legs spinning when life gets complicated. This was the craziest year of my life (moved to a different state, wife got cancer, and studied for PE two separate times) and still got 4k miles in. With august to the end of this year basically being exclusively inside racing on zwift and TrainerRoad.

I'm pretty stingy with money, but I don't regret dropping $$$ on a Tacx Neo2 trainer at all.
I love the thing.

1) Cost. Tarmacs are more expensive. I was pushing my luck at $8K with the wifeunit’s understanding.
2) Reviews seem to pigeon the Aethos into a comfortable ride that’s capable of speed and long rides. It’s also available new vs the backordered Tarmac.
I’ve never found my Venge to be uncomfortable. In fact it’s the opposite and the best bike I’ve owned. What I really want is another Venge with the DI2. They don’t make it anymore. That means used market, 2019 or 2020 likely, which I’m not opposed to if the right one comes available. I test rode a Madone last week. Nothing wrong with it and Trek is putting bikes in showrooms whereas other manufacturers are backing up. Also on the list of contenders is the Canyon Aeroroad but again no telling when Canyon would be able to actually sell me one.

8K for a bike with no suspension.
Blows my mind what top-end road bikes cost. And I'm not knocking it or anything, but it's just crazy that you can pay 8k for a top-end road bike with no suspension and get a top-end enduro bike with electronic shifting and bomber front and rear suspension for a similar price.

Add about $4k to that. It’s crazy but if you want a full dura ace bike with carbon wheels you’re paying $12k

Oh yea, sometimes that bridge has 30 fisherman on it, usually when sand bass are running.
