Anyone got some gear for Christmas?

Stocked up on some Rapha baselayers and socks.

Got some MAAP socks, think that is about it. Anyone abandoning their families for festive 500?

Are you kidding... all my money goes to buying my kid bike crap.

He actually got some support from GT for the upcoming season and got the new Force Carbon Pro LE under the tree. I'm jealous. We are headed out to Tucson tomorrow to try it out on some desert gnar.

2019 Canyon Aeroad CF SL Disc Di2. The last one not under a recall.

Testing the waters to see if I will want the new one to be released 1st quarter 2022.

Supposed to rain for the rest of the week so not a great chance I’ll get to run it out and see how it compares to my Venge.

Nice..

Wasnt the recall just for the bars? I guess I thought that had been addressed

I am finishing up a marathon and then plan to train for a 100-mile ride. I'd like to get in the weightroom some, given that January and February are always cold and rainy.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a bike-specific weightlifting plan? Just to help you out, I've ran 700 and biked 2000 miles this year. I have plenty of experience in the gym too.

Here is what I was thinking about doing once per week:
- Squats, 4 x 10
- Military press, 4 x 5
- benchpress, 4 x 5
- Deadlifts, 4 x 10
- Auxiliary upper body lifts
- Core work of 6 sets of planks and 6 sets of Russian twists

Along with this, I planned to do two "speed rides" per week where I focus on riding faster and faster, one run of varying distance and pace, a moderate distance but slightly slower ride just to get some time in the saddle, and then my long ride of increasing length every week.

The schedule would probably look like this:
- Sunday, weights
- Monday, speed ride (15 - 20 miles and focus on getting faster)
- Tuesday, run (3 - 8 miles either at an increased or easy pace)
- Wednesday, speed ride
- Thursday, moderate distance ride (25 - 40 miles at the speed I'd like to do the 100-miler at, which is 16.5+ mph at the worst)
- Friday, rest
- Saturday, long ride (get on the bike and ride 10 or so miles longer each time until I reach 100)

Your thoughts?

Thank you.

My understanding is that Canyon did but there was/is also a seat post issue with the same model. I do like the thought they put into the adjustable handlebars. I hope they will put that on this Springs version too.

The run day isn’t going to help you much on the bike.. i’d replace it with another chill day on the bike, but i’m not a runner

When are you hoping to be able to do the 100?

I like to run and I'd like to stay loose.

I'm hoping to do the 100 in April, so I plan to use this training plan for 10-12 weeks.

Ah, hadn’t heard about the seatpost issue.

Man, those adjustable bars seem like a problem waiting to happen (which did). I’m perfectly happy with mine not having moving carbon pieces involved lol

Heard that..

With that volume i think it’s probably doable. Do you have a trainer for when the weather doesnt allow for riding outside?

Remember, fitness obviously needs to be there but nutrition is a big part of that long of a ride. Knowing when and how to fuel is just as important.

Did 100 this morning and the amount of shite i consumed during the ride is stupid

Yeah, I do, but I need to get it working again.

I appreciate the nutrition comment. I'm sure I'll be eating like a banshee during the ride. What was your time and average speed?

Preach. I'm still trying to dial it in. I suffer from really bad headaches after a long ride and I can't seem to figure it out.

Yea so this is roughly what i consumed this morning.. and this was an “off season” ride

-bowl of eggs and rice about an hour or so before.
-about 5 bottles (3 skratch or gatorade/2 reg water)
-bag of dill pickle lays (we obviously made a couple store stops)
-bag of salted peanuts
-5 gu rocktane gels
-4 salt tabs
-honeystinger waffle

Moving time was right at 4:30. Avg 22 with about 4k of climbing

Any recommendations?
I already put down Nuun tablets and pickle juice shots on rides.

More..

I took in somewhere around 2500mg of sodium this morning and that felt adequate for a moderate effort in 75 degree temps. More effort and/or higher temps, another 500mg at least

TA, I know you do tris so one thing I do to get the best of both worlds(bike/run). Getting ready for a 70.3 I do a treadmill workout with leg work mixed in. Run a mile on the treadmill and immediately go to squats (not heavy but 20 reps), 20 lunges, and then alternate plyometric jumps. (step jumps, side to sides, squat jumps).

So I will do 1st mile easy then 20 squats(80pounds), 20 lunges, 40 step jumps). rest 30-45 seconds.

2nd mile easy, 20 squats, 20 lunges, 20 side-to-sides,

3rd mile easy, 20 squats, 20 lunges, 10 squat jumps)

now repeat except miles 4-6 are medium pace.

I like to work up to 12 miles and usually by then, I know I'll be ready for the 70.3 run. For me, it's just learning to run on fatigued legs.

Step Jumps

Side-to-side step jumps

Squat jumps

The plyometric jumps will also help the cycling too.
