Update: I feel amazing, and it's day 3 since the big frick up of beer and pizza. My wife is feeling the change as well. Shes already noticing we are waking up easier, way more energy, and our skin is better. We aren't constantly putting on lotion. I imagine that's the fats and good oils coming through.

I put 1 tsp of coconut oil in my coffee this morning instead of 1/2 pack Stevia and 1 tsp cream. It's amazing tasting and helps get the fats up.

Man, every time I eat I think, "there is no way in hell I am going to lose weight eating food that tastes this damn good."

Keto really works? This isn't an elaborate hoax where I end up on my 600lb life?

I just worked out and broke my fast with some deer meatballs. About to grab some pecans and cheese. Anxious to see what happens over 6 weeks.

It is interesting to look at just how bad carbs are for you if not in very small dosages as more science comes out.

I know. I’ve read all of the science behind keto before I started. It’s just hard to believe as I’m eating chicken Alfredo until I’m full.

Then I’ve got OWSA telling me to eat kerrygold butter out of the pack to get my fats up. It just counter to everything we were taught/ lied to about as kids.

It's such fricking bullshite. I was already 100% on board with Keto but last night I watched "The Magic Pill" on Netflix and it made me angry.

I'm glad you are enjoying yourself so much on the lifestyle

That youtube channel isn't a ketosis channel. It is just health in general if you were wanting to know lots of health stuff backed by stuides.

I'm sure there are plenty of places to get recipes too, but ruled.me was one place I used forever ago if you need variety.

I found out today you can order a grilled chicken "sandwich" at chick fil a protein style. It is wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun! I got the club with cheese and bacon and dipped it in the 1 carb ranch. Great because I was in a bind and drive thru was my only option.

Five Guys, In-n-Out, Wendy’s pretty much everyone will give you a good Keto hamburger on the go with a lettuce wrap. Just be careful and limit the toppings such as onions and whatnot that contain carbs and avoid the ketchup (sugar).

If I eat 35 total carbs but only 25 net carbs, do I just ignore those other ten carbs due to the fiber or do I need to count it towards my total caloric intake?

I would listen to OWSA on this one, but since you asked me. Yes, I understand that to be correct.

I know you can distinguish between carbs and net carbs. Does the 25g above need to be net or total carbs?

Net carbs

Yes you subtract the 10g of fiber. You also can subtract SOME sugar alcohols too (erythritol and xylitol), but not all of them.

Regardless if net or total carbs they all count towards total calories. You don’t decrease calories only the carbs.

How new are you to Keto? If you are just starting I would increase my fats to 75% and decrease protein to 20% until you have been doing this awhile and get solidly fat adapted. Also as a means of guaranteeing you stay in ketosis just because 5% is let’s say 30g of net carbs daily do not exceed 20g of net carbs a day. This is a the dummy proof way of staying in ketosis although you can eat more carbs than that and stay in. Since you are new you want to get and stay in ketosis for a good while (2-3 months) before exploring your carbs kicking you in or out.

That’s where I started 6’2” and 215lbs. I’m now 185lbs and trying real hard not to lose weight. Even at my goal weight I stay strict Keto because of the mental clarity, energy, and how good I feel. I had borderline IBS and this cleared up everything. Also I had severe neck pain from years of flying and this diet is so anti-inflammatory it’s conplwtedly gone.

I had plans to cook some 80/20 ground beef at work but ended up having to go run some errands. I stopped at Sonic and got the double, no bun, mayo and cheese only (no bacon bc I'm trying not to overdo the protein).
