If I take a scoop of protein powder about 3 times a day. Is it pointless to use BCAA's?

Why do you take that much protein powder? Wouldn't you rather eat more food?

In any case, BCAAs are mostly useless anyhow.

Snack between meals. I eat like 6 times a day. Healthy food isn't cheap.

But protein powder is not the way out. You can snack with apples or anything like that...

Probably pointless. Protein powder includes most BCAA's, so it usually winds up being duplicative.

Yeah don't do protein powders 3 times a day. Just do once a day. Fill in the rest of your snacks with peanut butter, tuna, cottage cheese, fruit and veggies. You miss out on other nutrients and vitamins by neglecting whole foods.

That just shows the sad state of our country

Being healthy cost more than being and eating like a slob

I take protein twice a day

Once in the morning with a banana as my breakfast. I don’t like eating eggs and I’m not much of a breakfast person unless we make pancakes which I dump a scoop of protein in.

Then of course post workout

Yes, Whey has all the BCAAs already in it. But it also has calories. If I was poor I would skip the BCAAs and stick with whey.

If you consume enough dietary protein each day, consuming additional BCAAs in addition to that confer no extra benefit

If you like the protein shakes drink them. If you are drinking 3 a day you really don't need a BCAA supplement.

I definitely couldn’t drink 3 protein shakes a day every day. I already don’t find most of the brands to be very good tasting.

BCAA’s have truly helped me recover more than any other supplement I’ve taken. I get really sore - especially after running or last month doing a challenge. The extra BCAA’s both before and after a run or at night helped. Maybe because I’m 49 year old but I can tell a significant difference in my recovery time.

It's cheaper than ever to get in calories.

However, I think this is largely a fallacy and perpetuating it only makes it harder to get people to see the light.

Rice, beans, potatoes, veggies are pretty dang cheap. Unless you're slamming Ramen Noodles its hard to get much cheaper than cooking at home with basic ingredients. Even when you include meats.
