I can’t imagine a majority of users actually utilizing those features. Majority of folks seem to only use it as another mechanism to let everyone know about that “amazing” run they just did. It’s just another social media platform.

I won't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure the Garmin app includes most all of those services. I go back and forth between the two apps bc some stats are easier to view on one more than the other. I could do without Strava.

This is my thought as well. Happy with what is presented and how it is presented with Garmin. Is it perfect, no; but it is good platform especially since I use the watch when I'm playing golf, in the gym, and out on the boat. I use a Fenix 6 and a running dynamics pod. No need for Strava or the UA platforms.

I don't really use any of that stuff. I use Garmin for more specific analysis and such.

I don't see many people paying for that shite. I'm not sure what is giving them confidence that they will. I certainly will not. I used to enjoy pushing myself to take/keep a segment, but I'm so jacked up w various old man ailments now I'm happy just to get out and run (meaning, I'll probably usually be out or top 10 these days and don't care).

I use Strava purely for a mileage log to track what I've done this week, month, and YTD. I'm also interested when I beat my previous best time on a segment I ride a lot. But could not care less about my time compared to other riders or route planning.

So do you need a Garmin device paired to your phone for this to work? I have it installed on my android phone and an account set up but there is no way to start an activity.
