Over the years I've been yoyo'ing anywhere from 270-320's. Around December 20th or so I decided it was time for change. Got on the scale and was blown away...325. holy shite. So I started going to the gym with a good friend from work and doing cardio every morning. I've been skipping breakfast and drinking a go lean shake for lunch. At night I've been alternating between grilled chicken or steak. Sometimes seafood. With vegetables and snack on mozzarella cheeses sticks. I'm trying to do a combo of keto and intermittent fasting. Seems to be working. As of this morning I was down to 311. Still a fatass but headed in the right direction. BTW I'm not looking at this as a diet. This is a life change. No more Beer, pizza, pasta, etc. Just lean meat and veggies from here on out. My goal weight is 225 and I'll re-assess the situation from there.

First and foremost congratulations on realizing your are obese and need to turn your life around. #2 head over and visit our Keto community here on the HFB. There’s a ton of resources there and you can ask whatever questions you want.

LINK

I can dig further into it for you on the Keto thread but you are not really doing a Keto WOE drinking go lean shakes and eating lean meat.

I've been trying to add a little extra dressing on my salads and eating nuts/avocados to get my fat intake up. My macros on myfitness app have been running around 60% fat 30 protein and 10 carbs give or take. I made some crack chicken from a keto website the other that hits macros perfect and tasted freaking awesome. Eating a shite ton of eggs as well.

Head over to the Keto thread I linked above. We need to fix some things with your diet if you truly are serious about losing that weight. You do not need to be eating more salad dressing and nuts at your weight.

I had been doing keto for 2 weeks and ate pizza and drank beer yesterday. I thought I had the flu last night. I woke up freezing with the shits. A few hours later, it felt like I had broken a fever. I was hot and had sweat like I ran a marathon. Today, my joints hurt and I'm very tired.

Congrats on changing your life, don't cheat or you will pay for it.

A word of caution, just make sure you aren't crash dieting. It sounds like you've lost 15 pounds in about 3 weeks, which at your weight isn't too much. If you are eating an extremely low calorie count you will stall quicker. You should be looking for long, linear, consistent weight loss. At your weight, I would say about 2 lbs a week right now. Hulk can provide more info and links on this than I can.

First off good luck. A couple of years ago I was up over 265 and cut down to 220. It seems like you are going all in which is great if you can pull it off, but that never worked for me. It took years of bad habits and eating unhealthy for me to get to where I was and everytime i went all in on diet an exercise i would lose 10-15lbs then fall off the wagon and end up right back where I started. So a couple of years ago i did it differently, i made slight changes, no soft drinks at restaurants because they are endless, as little fast food as possible cut back on chips and French fries and I started running on an elliptical a few times a week. After losing 10lbs that way, I made a few more minor tweaks to my diet (cut way back on alcohol) and began weightlifting. Another 5-10lbs, and by that point I had cut most of my bad habits and that's when I began counting calories and trying to hit my macros and was able to knock off the rest of the weight and hit my target of 225. If you are able to stick to the drastic lifestyle change then more power to you, but I personally had to ease into it for it to stick. Good luck, and just remember you didn't gain all that weight overnight, and it's not going to go away overnight it is a journey.

This Tuesday will be one week without a carbonated beverage of any kind. I was good for 3-4 16oz bottle of either coke zero or diet Dr. Pepper a day. Then about 15-20 Mic Ultras throughout the week. I haven't read any conclusive evidence of zero Cal drinks linked to weight gain but if you pay attention most fat people are drinking a diet soda of some kind. There has to be some correlation there. My wife and I have both swore off sodas for at least 6 months to see if we can tell any difference. Just been drinking water and unsweet green tea. Hasn't been as hard as I thought it would.

ETA how accurate are the keto test strips. Here is one I just did at 9:00. This is after I've already pissed two or three times this morning. Been up since 4 am.

I'm curious about these as well. What brand are you using?

Ok. Continued adaptation will decrease excretion in the urine as the body quits dumping them. So as you adapt you will see less and less in the urine. Blood is where it is at.

They are garbage. Don’t even bother using them. If you want to track which isn’t necessary if you keep carbs <20g net daily get a mojo.

Very accurate. We have two T1D daughters and use that same brand.
