Covid has been an easy excuse for me to gain weight and im tired of feeling fat. Up to 195 and that's the biggest I've been in quite some time. Im doing a sober November and cutting out alcohol, fast food, sodas, and junk food. Going to try to get the the gym 4-5 times a week all month.
I'll check back in at the end of the month if I lost weight. Feel free to join in

I may do this until Thanksgiving day. That’s wine and whiskey day!

Sounds like a plan! I’m trying to skip extras (especially sugar) until my birthday (on the 13th) that’ll be a cheat day (I turn 40
) - then try my best to stay in track til thanksgiving
I’ll probably mess up - but since I posted this train of thought - maybe it’ll keep me motivated
The kids got a lot of good treats last night - yikes!

I’m doing “no cell November”. I made it up. I bought an analog clock to sit by my bed.
Plugging my phone in, in the bathroom.
I think I’ll sleep better. Recover better.

I’m also getting a jump on the new year’s resolution starting today. Diet and training every day, let’s ride.

So I was wrong. Still drinking heavily two days later.

If you do it until Thanksgiving, you may have to choose wine or whiskey. I did it for 2 1/2 months over the summer (liver tests - all came back fine) and was feeling really good after 2 Jameson lemonades.
Only other change in my routine was I was doing some heavy yard work for 3 weekends in a row (July); ended up dropping just under 25 pounds. Since late August my 5 pound flux has stayed between 192 - 196

Good luck man.
I did Sober October and am still rolling. Longest time I’ve gone without a drink since probably like 17 or whenever I started drinking.

I’m not trying to be dismissive with my question but with all due respect if you enjoy having a glass of wine scotch beer after a long day why give up something that you enjoy?

Fair question and I think you’re spot on.
For me, I seem to live my life in 2 speeds: All in or all out.
I’ve been crushing work and the gym throughout the week, but then getting hammered on Friday/Saturday. It was normal to be hungover all weekend and sometimes Monday.
I decided to take a break for a little and see how successful I can be without holding myself back 3/7 days per week.
Definitely plan on drinking again, just a break for now.

I had my anniversary dinner so I cheated and had a drink. Still have been on track for hitting the gym. Went 6/7 days last week
