What's a good shoe store that has decent selection of shoes and knowledgeable staff in BR or New Orleans area?

Looking for trail runners. Normally wear Altra Lone Peaks for hiking but want to try on some Hokas or Brooks.

I was fitted at new balance store. I have a somewhat of a flat foot (and mild over pronation). I was actually wearing shoes too small. And they put me in a model for flat feet.

Might have better luck for trail shoes at Backpacker or Masseys?

I picked up some trail shoes at new balance and used the insert for “flat feet”. I did also pick up some trail shoes at Massey’s - my foot dr was concerned that using the lower profile new balance shoes might aggravate a bone spur I have on the top on my ankle (where it connects to foot). So make a long story short we had a 20 mile hike planned in September and my bone spur was really flaring up after a long hike. I had trained in the new balance shoes and didn’t want to start over in a new pair of shoes. I brought the merrell (they were mid ankle boots). The entire trip is was a mental debate on what to do.
I decide to hike in the new balance put I was prepared with a blister kit and a ankle wrap and done anti inflammation pills etc.
I ended up not having any problems but I’ve learned is to be prepared

I like Varsity and New Balance store. My last few have been New Balance. For trail running I would go with Varsity.

No trail runners at Varsity.

Masseys and The Backpacker are places you shop when you want to look like a hiker/backpacker but not actually do it. They had nothing worth trying either.

I’ll do like normal and order from REI and send back if they don’t fit. Trying to buy local is frustrating.
