I see a lot of ads online for resistance bands.

1) Are these worth the investment - do any of y’all consistently use them, and are they a satisfactory replacement to free weights?

2) Are they pretty much all the same quality? Any suggestions on a certain brand that lasts a while/aren’t cheaply made?

TIA

Elitefts

They are a supplement to free weights/ bodyweight for accommodating resistance training. They work great and can replace lay pull down, tricep pulldowns, cable lateral raises, pull through a etc.

Also great for rehab purposes.

That's where mine are from. They're a great company to buy from too. Rogue is always solid for stuff too.

They're also great for traveling. You can get a solid hotel room workout with bands that take up virtually zero space.

I also use them as a mobility tool a lot. They've been great for my shoulders.

I bought some Valor Fitness ones off Amazon, the quality seems fine. They stretch the muscles good and provide variable resistance. My shoulders do not like dumbell lateral raises. But I can do lateral raises with the bands and they feel fine and get a good burn.

What I dont like is they are tough on the hands. It's also hard to do some wide grip exercises without the band naturally wanting to pull your hands closer to each other, bent over row for example.

I tried to really push it with the bands before the gym opened. When I started back at the gym moving actual weight made me sore as hell. So I would say it's good supplemental exercise and great for traveling.

I bought Iron Infidel off of Amazon (the rest of my gym is Rogue) and honestly, the quality is fine. You don’t have to go to a name brand for bands IMO.

Here’s what I learned during quarantine...anyone that says the bands are just as good as the gym is a lying a-hole

I have a set. They're great for traveling. When I come up to the house in Alabama for long hunting trips I bring them along.
You can get a good pump with them but they're obviously not as good as free weights. I feel like they're good for keeping me at the strength/fitness level I'm at so I don't deteriorate when I'm away from the gym for extended periods.
