If I’m going to get serious about this it has to start today. I refuse to give myself the usual “I’ll start Monday” easy way out only to gorge myself over the next 4 days.

I obviously don’t have a lunch prepped. I have access to your typical fast food places, couple small cafes, and grocery store. Trying to decide what I’m going to get that will be fairly quick/easy

go get a rotisserie chicken and a very small salad.

you have the right attitude but your description above borders on eating disorder. i would find a therapist that specializes in that.

as far as how to lose the weight, i suggest the carbon diet app and taking things very slow. dont get down on yourself if you mess up, just get right back on. if you eat clean 80% of the time you are doing better than you were. small steps.

i also suggest you start lifting 3 days a week and getting 8 hours per sleep.

other things are simple-walk for 10 min before or after each meal

for your meal, sit down, no phone, no tv no distractions.

take a bite, put the fork down, chew the food, wipe your mouth and take a sip of water. do this after every bite.

eat the meat and veggies first, wait 5-8min and if still hungry, eat the carbs.

try to keep it simple at first. and honestly you could skip the carbon app and do mfp or even the noom app which focuses on the phycological aspect of dieting.

and last but not least, start posting in the daily threads for accountability and support. im always availble to talk to offline if you want. i really hope we can have some impact on your life and get your to a better spot mentally if nothing else.

well not feeling that well. hoping its not the VID, but i went to sleep before 7 last night, have had the chills all night and whole body hurts.

all i ate yesterday was 4 fried eggs and a 1/2 link of deer sausage. had to make myself eat that.

i did give in this morning and got a sausage, egg, cheese breakfast sandwich that was about 400 cals.

dunno if i will eat anything else today.

204.6/194.6/184

10 lbs down and feels pretty easy so far. As probably everyone feels when your work life and personal life are in order, eating right and going to the gym is pretty easy. Once you get stressed at work or you have a bad week socially things can start getting stressful.

I was a bit worried I wasn't eating enough early but my strength has been perfectly fine in the gym, so I think the calories are fine and I just had a bit to lose (probably more than half of this is water weight still).

It's about stacking those good days. Break the streak of binging today.

I've got a ton of thoughts on this stuff man. I've been able to find ways to do better in this area the last couple of years.

2 things off the top of my head that helped
- doing more fulfilling things each day. Finding something that excites me. For me this past year has been pickleball. So maybe it's a sport or a new hobby to completely lose yourself in.
- Opening up to the people closest to me about binging. Not for them to feel bad for me or to hold me accountable. It is more of a way to hold myself accountable as I know they are truly pulling for me and I wouldn't want to let them down. (this might sound weird)

Let me know if you ever want to chat. Just tried to email you my cell # but it bounced back. Shoot me an email if you want to connect brother. lazybuttalentedTD@gmail.com

Wasn't bad over the weekend but wasn't super strict either. Weight stayed the same but I did 4 full workouts last week so that was disappointing.

Starting this week off well but I have to spend a ton of time in the car tomorrow for work so hopefully that doesn't derail my progress. Scale showed a little decrease this morning but I'm sticking to my weekly Monday weigh-ins as the official count, but it's good to finally see a little progress on the scale.

Thanks man. Appreciate that.

It definitely is all mental and stringing together good days is the biggest part.

Lsu777 saying I need to put my phone down while eating is very true. I use a big meal as something to look forward to to get me through the day. Eating a subway footlong while scrolling through TD at lunch is all I look forward to all morning. Then thinking about getting a pizza or something for dinner and chilling in front of the heater on my phone. I guess when I’m eating “healthy” in my mind there’s nothing to look forward to each day. It’s crazy because in reality the time spent eating/on my phone is only like 20 minutes total at most. But those 15-20 minutes twice a day are what I look forward to most. Crazy when you think about it

Guess I’m just going to have to embrace the suck of feeling fat and hungry for a week or two until I adjust and see some progress. Getting on a roll really is the hardest part

ETA: and you’re right, I need to find something else to look forward to. My work schedule is super flexible/easy so I definitely can’t blame being overworked/over stressed or not having enough time

I know the struggle, tunechi. I'm bad about being distracted while eating, and eating food whereever. I started seeing a therapist about 2 months go (partially related to food and wanting CBT around food, but also just a lot on my plate atm and need someone to help guide me through the rollercoaster I'm on for the next year or two so I don't lose my sanity) and one of her first recommendations when it comes to satiety is to stop doing that. Eat intentionally. Pay attention to the food, enjoy it. Appreciate the things that the healthier food does for you and your body. It helps you accomplish your goals, it tastes good, etc. Only eat in designated spots (I.E. tables, snack bar) and put away the phone. It's helped me a lot.

Believe I’ll get some baked chicken for lunch

My local WD has hot lunches in the deli. Will do 2 thighs or something and a vegetable side

Eliminating decision fatigue by meal prepping and planning everything about your day before it happens is big time.

What are your food issues?

Is it overeating or poor food choices or both?

Yea man let it all out here. Everyone on this site has issues and almost everyone here loves eating pasta pizza desserts and drinking beer. We all get it.

I say you make one small change first. For example, instead of ordering dinner in I will make dinner at home Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. you could make a healthy casserole or something on Sunday night then eat leftover. It doesn't have to be that idea but every small change will make a small difference, which will result in a huge difference at the end

Definitely is my biggest issue currently. Staying with my parents currently while in the housing market.. hopefully the right house will become available soon

Using their kitchen isn’t really feasible because they are always using it which leads to the constant eating out.
I ordered some meals from LINK that will be in tomorrow. I’ve had their meals before and they are pretty good. Maybe not boneless skinless chicken/brown rice clean but clean enough and the main thing is portion control/calorie count. Ordering those meals is actually cheaper than the amount I’ve been spending to eat out every day. That will hopefully have to do until I find a house

I ordered 10 meals which is enough for lunch/dinner for 5 days. I’ll fill in the gaps with a healthy snack or two to keep from getting ridiculously hungry. I’ve never been a breakfast person

Both really. If I could stop the overeating, that would be my biggest accomplishment.

I’ve got to develop a better relationship with food. I have a bachelor trip in 2 weeks, then the same friend’s wedding 2 weeks after that. For the 3 day bachelor trip, as it sits now would be a 3 day complete binge fest of whatever/where ever we eat. I don’t even struggle with alcohol, just food.
I’ve got to get it in my head that even though I’ll be going to restaurants on the bachelor trip, I can still order a grilled chicken sandwich instead of 20 wings. Or a salad instead of something else greasy. The option to eat healthier will be there no matter where we eat, I just have to force myself to do it

So, I am asking, because 1. I am honestly curious. 2. Maybe typing it out will help you.

How and when do you over eat? Is it triggered by too much food being around? Are you drinking and just eat crap and a ton of it?

Not triggered by food around me or drinking. I rarely ever drink alcohol.

It's mostly planned out as I mentioned previously. Looking forward to a meal at the end of the day or for lunch. I need to turn my attention to focus on something else instead of that being the only thing to look forward to

It really is some kind of brain chemical/emotional release when it comes to looking forward to it and the satisfaction of getting it. My mood can go from blah to complete happiness just by an unhealthy meal. I've never dabbled in drugs or had drinking issues but there's got to be some kind of dependency connection there. My habits resemble that of an addict tremendously

Yeah that sounds a lot like an addict. It could be your body's response to the insulin cycle. You're riding that wave of insulin being produced by a heavy sugar filled or carby meal. then, you crash. Next, start eating carbs again.

I didn't understand the chemical process of eating carbs when I first did keto. I just thought about weight loss not what it was doing to my body, mood, habits, etc.

This time I'm aware of it, and understand what happens when I break the diet.

I still get excited about meals. Hell, I'm pumped about my ribeye tonight.

It is almost definitely a response to the insulin cycle at the least

I’ve tried keto a time or two and never lasted over a couple weeks. I was either eating too much protein/not enough fat or way too much processed junk. I believe that would honestly make me feel better if it was something I felt like I’d stick to. I believe I need to better my overall relationship with food first.
With keto, if I eventually stuck it out, I feel like I’d be one of those who gained it all back rather quickly after trying to “slowly” reintroduce carbs

I did. That’s why I’m back here 2 years later. My mindset has changed this go around. This is a lifestyle change everyone talks about. For me, learning about what food does to my body changed me. Do I still want nachos, pizza, and beer? You bet your arse I do. However, the trick is to have that and make the next meal a clean meal. Don’t compound a mistake or purposeful “cheat”
Also, don’t start cheating until your thin
