Exactly. Machines don't allow your muscles to work together as they prefer for big movements. They allow you to be a little lazier in your efforts.

Is it true that planet fitness doesn’t have free weights for bench, squat, etc? Why do their dumbbells only go up to 60lbs also?

So what is considered heavy? I don’t really go above 225lbs on bench because I never have a spotter

That’s a very subjective question. Depends in the individual.

That's what sucks about PF. Smaller, skinnier guys may have no issues with the weight limits they have.

Bigger guys can't maximize their abilities. Repping a 60 pound dumbbell to infinity on DB bench will cap you out at some point.

That’s their point. Put a cap on a person’s potential so that they can’t ever “gymtimidate” anyone. Strong men bad.

French Riviera Fitness is on the corner of Cleary and Vets like five blocks down from the Toys R Us you are talking about.

I don't know anything about that gym (other than that they have the most annoying radio commercials in the world), but it's there.

To answer the original question, both the places you listed are to large for a PF. I think the Toy's R Us is already leased out as a distribution center for something else. The Gordans has potential, but would need to be split in half and there are a hundred other factors that go into placing a PF. If I were you I would wish for a nicer gym or spend that $10 bucks a month on cookies.

... I forgot there is a PF in Metairie already, so highly unlikely you see another.

Planet fitness are huge, they are deploying like 1000 new locations at closed sears and toys r us. The gordons is like 20000 square ft, so it would be perfect. The PF in metairie is not even close to the bucktown area of metairie so theres an opportunity there.

French Riviera is literally everything I hate about gyms. That place is nasty and you can smell the test coming off of people in that place. I will never work out there.

The size of the PF is based on demographic, distance from other locations (There are (3) in Jeff Parish, (2) on the west bank and (1) in the East) and RENT! PF has a proven model to be successful, just bc some skinny joe blow thinks he should have one bc there are none around his house doesn't mean its an opportune place for one.

The Gordons is 24,000 sf and if the Landlord wants high dollar per SF due to location then its the opposite of perfect.
