bench...quite a few. Saw one guy pull one rep on a DL with 455 the other day. I also saw him squatting 315+ but they were more like 3/4 squats. He's also like 5'6 and 200+ pounds.

At my gym saw a dude deadlift about 500 the other day.

Saw a relatively normal looking guy get one rep at 420 on bench press.

Another guy (roided out of his mind) rep 315 on the bench like it was nothing. He didn't go any higher though.

I have seen more guys bench 315 than I have seen guys squat over 400 or deadlift over 450.

Interestingly, when I've seen people post their PRs on the OT they tend to be closer to those numbers on squat and deadlift yet ~250 on bench.

I'm the other way around as I've always been very good at bench press. However, I never worked with a strength coach and avoided squats and deadlifts for years out of fear of injury. This year I committed myself to deep squats and am already getting close to passing up my bench totals.

This is really common. So many people skip those lifts for the same reason. Truth be told, the dead is dangerous if you don't educate yourself beforehand, but it's such an important lift imo.

I am firmly in the "advanced" level for all of the lifts based on body weight.

The "elite" level is another story. There are just a couple (one for sure) at my gym that would be there.

Good job My PRs are bench elite, squat advanced, deadlift advanced(almost elite). Doing all 3 in one session they're all advanced.

Genuinely interested in your thought process here. My deadlift PR is 585 at 37 years old and 230lbs. No way I could do that without straps, not even using hook grip. And I'm not dumb enough to pull that weight with a mixed grip. So please, how is it less of a pull? (It's not)

I know being a troll is your thing, but you really are just an a-hole. And you are usually pretty stupid as well.

Cause a true legit test of strength is being able to hold on to the bar with your own grip. You don't think it'sess of a pull compared to someone that can do it without straps? You explain that to me bubba.

That's impressive weight but I wouldn't tell anyone you use straps. All I'm saying

LE is huge on grip strength.

It's a workout board, there will be ball busting and different methods. People will disagree.

If I can't lift something because of my grip I'm not gonna lift It until I can grip it. Cause that is part of the deal of muscle training. Your lift with straps is not as impressive as the guy not using them. I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings

What do you consider as "your own grip?" Do you mean that you only do double overhand with no hook grip? Hook grip is not your grip strength.

Meh. I use straps with anything over 405. I'm not limiting my back strength due to grip

Exactly, I believe in a lot of what LE says but I'm not going to let my grip hold my back development back.

And this is the reason I love lifting at home. If I want to use straps I don't have anybody telling me shite about it.

Your grip strength has zero to do with your ability to drive through your heels and pull that bar up. I understand wanting strong hands (I do grip work too) but why limit my back and legs development if I don't have to. Your opinion isn't right or wrong, I just disagree.

Do you not care about your grip strength? How about not limiting your deadlift weight cause of your grip? I'm not trying to be a dick but 405 isn't all that much in terms of busting out some straps .
