Is there any chance you could explain the 7th week protocol I don't really understand how and when to use it even after reading about it

pretty simple, on page 20 of forever

if treating it as a training max test
work up to your training max and perfrom an amrap with it. shooting for the following

if training max is 90%-3 reps, 85%- 5 reps. We are shooting for a PR here.

we do not adjust the training max though even if you can do 10+ so long as you were making progress. just stay the course. Its just a simple way to set a PR. now if you do less than the above reps, lower the training max.

if using as a deload week
work up to 1 rep with your training max and you are done. thats it for the week.

if using as a pr test

essentially the same as the training max test week.

he lays it all out on pages 20-23 in forever.

now in relation to PPSA, i suggest you do the training max test if you are needing a deload week. that would be all you do that day. i suggest combining bench/squat & deads/press and seeing what you can do with the trianing max. so long as everytime you do this you are setting a Rep Record than stay the course. Hit a plateau and you either need to lower the TM and focus on performing the reps with absolute speed or if stuck doing the TM for like 12+ reps....raise the TM.

What do you suggest for leading into a max test week?

I have time to finish elbow meat, test my maxes, and take a deload, and I still have 1 extra week leftover before squatober. I took a 2 week vacation before elbow meat so im pretty fresh. I was thinking I'd just work up to 2 sets of 2 around 90% for each of the 4 main lifts once that week but I kinda like the idea of the training max test you described but stopping 1-2 reps short of AMRAP

Repeat last week of elbow meat and then do test week the last week of September as your deload week.

Well if I'm counting the max week as a deload week then I have 2 extra weeks to figure out. The main reason I didn't want to do extra weeks of elbow meat is because most of the compound lifts are only in the 70-80% of TM range and I thought it would be better to spend a week working up to peak strength before testing maxes. Also this program doesn't have conventional DLs and I don't really want to max out on DLs after 8 weeks of not doing them at all, though I could sub them in place of the snatch grip DLs the last 2 weeks

What other programs do you have? You could do 2 weeks of one and then do test week

Good point. I have most of them. I'll look around to see what looks best. Maybe 2 weeks of Prequel and just swap one day of squats for deadlifts each week

Honestly, would just do about 2 and a half weeks of Prequel, take about 4 days off and don't worry about the training maxes, just 5/2.5 to everything from start of Prequel and go with it.

I am in week 2 of Silverback and will be doing that prolly or doing 2.5 weeks of strongville again going into squatober

Honestly I'm just testing the maxes for my own curiosity. I feel like I got much stronger when I ran my last maps program. Everything feels so easy right now. And the last time I tested maxes happens to be the 3rd week of September last year so it'll be nice to see what changed over 1 year

I'm a failure... Turnt Up was too Turnt for my old arse. I thought it would be better to only lift two weekdays(and Sat) a week with school in session, but the workouts were brutally long and I felt I was half assing...

That being said I start Arm Farm RM this morning, completed in just under an hour!

I plan on going back to Turnt Up when school is back on break and I have more time to devote.

That’s my biggest con for the Stacked Jacked program. They take me 75-90 min which is not ideal for my typical workout schedule (working out at lunch during work week). Powering through it though and am on week 4. The 5x5 squats and then finisher of 10 reps whipped my arse this morning but I got it done

Good luck! I completed week 2 day 1 of filling out the hoodie 1 this morning and the pump was gnarly!! These next 8 weeks should be fun between filling out the hoodie 1 and 2! Anyone tried jacked up joker btw?? The 10x10 work intrigues me in a bad way lol. Happy lifting everyone!

How has this program been for you overall? I’m planning on running it later this winter and it’s definitely intimidating.

Planning to do a short review of it when I finish it Thursday but it’s a solid program. 777 has mentioned a few times that this is PPSA’s toughest program and I believe it. A ton of volume, you do all 4 lifts 2x per week and there’s arm stuff every day. If you’re prepared to devote the time to it, eat your arse off, and sleep well, you will definitely see the results. I’ve been much more diligent the last month on eating well every day instead of just most days, always hitting my protein, less alcohol on the weekends, etc.

Day 3 of Turnt Up can easily be over 2 hours, it was nuts...

Great to hear, from the looks of it I can see why it’s so tough. Definitely not something to run when you’re busy and stressed, but certainly looks effective. I’m excited to see your review, thanks for the feedback.

I’m finishing up squats right now. I’ll be in the bench for the next 2 hours. Hopefully nobody else needs it.
