I’ve run on grass before, but I’m not sure it’s any better.

Ask WaydownSouth. He boasts that he runs 10 miles a day.

Yes it is. But if you're having bad knee issues might want to consider switching to swimming, the rowing machine, or the ski machine for your cardio. I.e something that's not so hard on your joints.

Yes, it's better for you. Any type of running will put pressure on your knees and cause some issues as you get older. Running on grass, or in my case the sand, won't completely mitigate the problems, however it'll help, especially when compared to running on concrete.

Yes. This is one reason trail running is better than road running.

You think a softer surface is better or worse for your knees? Google is your friend. Also common sense.

Generally it's better. But if you have any lateral instability in your knees or ankles, the uneven surface of grass or trails can aggravate that. I tried to run on grass for all my ribs for years but always had a nagging knee issue. When I went back to pavement, it cleared up. Of course the pavement caused other issues. Best advice is don't get old

Varied terrain in general is easier on your body than pavement and especially flat pavement and pitched streets.

If you can find some trails with rolling hills, I recommend that.
