Maybe that's exactly what i should do or at least present the threat of it chasing after me to keep me going that last mile

6 easy in zone 2. Pace was absolutely terrible, but that stroller was a lot heavier to push today than it was last summer.

Well boys. I have officially gone of the deep end. After being pressured into completing the Louisiana Half earlier this year, I am now doing the Louisiana Triathlon. I guess I'm officially "in it". Let the journey begin

Seriously though, welcome to the crazy house.

Did my first interval session in 3 weeks, and first "hard" run since the 62 miles, just fartleks between 1 and 3 minutes for 4 miles... my body still aches but my vo2 max prediction went up a point!

What's your run walk ratio. Been trying this for a few weeks and have been enjoying it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but Jeff Galloway recommended:
3 run / 2 walk on "maintaining" days
4 run / 1 walk on "Building" days

I do 6 run / 2 walk when I'm doing an easier run/walk and I "build" with 6/1 (this would also be my "race day" ratio)... but I only to run/walk at random times

I’m not the best person to be following lol.
When I run at home it’s a short run down the road to the hwy and it’s 300yd so I sprint it and walk or easy jog it back rinse and repeat.
If I walk run any on my long runs and for my last marathon I run a mile and walk for 1/10 of a mile.

Montgomery half Saturday, but i caught a stomach bug Tuesday. Can't keep any solids down at all, have only been able to drink broth, Pedialyte and water since Tuesday morning. My favorite race and was going to be my first race since my IT band injury last April. Absolutely devastated about this one, but Im going to see about pivoting to the 5k and just push my daughter for this one. Always next year.

I usually keep a simple running log too, it helps more than people think. Just distance, pace and how the run felt that day. After a few weeks you start seeing patterns, like when you push too hard or when recovery was actually good. Made my marathon training a lot more consistent.

Good afternoon all,

I am new to running as I had a health scare and getting fit is a priority.

My question is: How often to run...daily or other for recovery purposes?

Is i more effective to run 2 miles five days per week (10 miles per wk)
or
3 miles every other day (10 miles per wk)

Most training plans are built with 5 days of running and two rest days. Are you looking at running a race? Signing up for and having a race goal even if it’s just to finish is a heck of a motivator for them days you kind of don’t feel like running.

10.5 miles today run walking at a 13:00min pace. Used my song play list to run a track walk a track lol

That seems reasonable, Maybe have a few slow days and few faster days on a cycle within that as well....

Yes, I ran a Charity 5K in November and it was a lot of fun and I want to be able to do 5 Ks and post reasonable time for my age bracket. (65-70)*

Another question, when jogging is it best to stick to one set pace for the entire run or do you vary pace in individual segments? Sometimes I just want to run faster than the pace I set...and then end up walking for a block or two

*I never typed that before...it sux seeing it

Google Hal higdon race plan and the Galloway walk run method.
But yeah most plans have you do some slow easy runs some fast runs and some interval runs of fast then slow or walk for recovery.
Getting old sucks but it sure beats the alternative!!

5 mile easy run at 10:55 pace run walk.

I've been doing the Galloway run walk for 4 weeks and it's made running fun. Just started running last year 52 years old. Broke my leg severely in 2022 and wish I had started run walk sooner.

Slowly lowering my walk intervals and increasing the run times.
