I’ll keep my weather comments to myself rn.

Getting back in a good rhythm and I think my legs hatred of me is finally over. Got 4 in at 6:4somerhing Wednesday and 5 at 6:40 yesterday. Might try to start sneaking some lighter workouts in next week.

I did an Aubie run today, 8 miles and tried to keep my heart rate below 135 for the 3 miles (kept it under 130 for the first 2!) and under 145 on the last 5. This heat can f off though

Gonna probably run my long run a bit faster than normal tomorrow (there is a marathon / half down the street from me and I'm going to go join a faster runner as she does the half). Just gonna go out and have fun, not sure what I'm going to do about hydration though as I didn't sign up for this race, so the water stations might be a bit tricky

Reporting back from Run Travis Run - man, this was a really cool event. I showed up super early to check in because I had no clue what to expect. Had over an hour to kill so knocked out my Garmin recommended 29 min tempo run prior to the 5k.

Turned out maybe 150 people total, which was awesome. Think they usually have way more than that for these events. Started with some warm up yoga and breath work. Then former sprinter Michael Johnson gave a talk with Devon Allen (110m hurdler) about the upcoming Grand Slam track league. They were followed by Bert Kreischer who said a few words, then Travis and Kourtney came out to get things kicked off. They were super accessible on the run, like could have just ran along side them the whole time. Same for Bert. They had some vendors giving out free samples of supplements and other wellness goods and then there was a show by a hardcore band from Baltimore called End It that was awesome. Audubon Park has absolutely never seen anything like that before

Gotta say it was $40 well spent. T shirt, medal, timed 5k, celeb sightings, free concert, lots of free samples of stuff. It was really really cool.

Think I finished around 22 or 23 minutes. Winner was this dude from Michigan who bought superbowl tickets hoping for the lions to make it . Think he went sub 18.

I remember in the summer when I would have killed to run in the low 70s. Now it sucks and is crippling my confidence.

The 23rd, just finished 8 @ 8:20 and 32 miles for the week. Got it in before the sun came up but it was still humid as balls.

Looks like some very slightly cooler temps next week here in South LA, maybe you’ll catch a break.

14 miles today in 76 degrees - it was not pleasant and I needed more water. Did 5 miles @sub-7:30 - didn't feel strong but I'm chalking it up to lack of water and the heat + my second week of 50+ miles

I immediately regretted running yesterday morning when I stepped outside this morning.

Latest runs haven't been too stellar. I really need some VO2 max time. I've spent a lot more time on the bike than on my feet, and I have a 9 miler on 2/22.

Yesterday was 6.25 @ 8:45

1mile at 10:30
I went to a PT and had dry needling done on my problem leg last Friday and it was all knotted up.
They gave me a list of exercises to do every day and it was my first run without IT band pain since marathon 3weeks ago.

I go to a PT every so often and get dry needling done and he tells me a few exercises I need to do that I have every intention of doing and never do!

Like I said after your other 1km repeats, you can crush a sub 20 with workouts like that.

Feeling pretty confident i can do it if i get my pacing right, biggest concern is the last mile is slightly gradual uphill so just hope i have enough in the tank at that point not to fall off too much

Just DO NOT go out fast. I never fail to do this at every 5k and blow up around 2.5 miles.

I’m hoping that they are correct and the protocol works.
Went for a lunch run and was able to only get a .9mile in before it hurt. Last week it was at .5
At this recovery pace I should be back to being able to run a marathon again in about 50 weeks

Ha trying to figure out my strategy, i feel like i need to build maybe like a 15 second cushion or so for that last uphill half mile but yeah don't want to burn it up too early obviously

I’d open at 6:15-6:20 if your aim is 20 flat. That’d get you through the 3 at 18:45-19:00 flat if you held which should be on pace for 19:30-19:45.

Based off the workouts you’ve posted I think you’re going to have an easier time with this than you think. Especially with some adrenaline rolling.

Opening at 6:15 should still feel pretty easy for you and keep you “safe”

ETA: I guess really it’d be closer to 19:35-19:50 if you “held pace” at the end but I always expect that last 200 to be faster.

I’d make sure you’re getting a few 200 stride outs in this week to prep the legs for the closing kick.
