That’s decent pace. How was your heart rate?

I've never done heart rate but I actually used my daughter's new Garmin she just got for Christmas for the first time. Not sure how accurate they are but it said my average was 140 with a high of 155 at the top of a long steep hill. Not really sure what to make of it.

It didn't feel like a hard run aerobically and I feel like I could have kept the pace another couple of miles without much trouble. Felt harder on my legs than my cardio.

I paced my workout using power this morning which I rarely do but it was warm(75 degrees), humid(dew point of 74), pouring down rain and windy. The workout was a 15 mile run with the first 7 miles easy and last 8 miles at marathon goal pace. But, since it was warm/humid/windy/wet and my shoes got soaked and heavy in the first quarter mile, I decided to go by power since pretty much all of my 8 marathon pace miles were going to be into the wind which was constant 20mph gusting to 35 - no way was I going to be able to hit goal pace.

Ended up averaging 7:07/mile in the 8 miles with an average HR of 168 - but I averaged 448 watts during the 8 miles, which was 2 watts higher than the 446 watts I averaged during my 1:24 half marathon last year in 20 degree windless weather. Since my goal pace for my marathon will be somewhere around 6:35/mile I think 448 watts for 8 miles had me in the right place. Felt like I was running into a brick wall most of it but its not all about pace especially given the conditions.

Did the same 15/8 workout last year in preparation for my 2:59 marathon and I did the 8 miles at a 6:57 pace, but it was dry and 25 degrees and I did 7 of the 8 miles with a 30 mile an hour wind to my back in Colorado Springs. Still one of the most miserable runs I've ever done since the first 7 miles were straight into that bitter wind.

15 miles at 10:23 pace
First time using tailwind and really liked it instead of GU gel. Ordered the bulk size to try but will get some single serving packs for upcoming marathon.

They’re not the most accurate, but close. 140 avg over 8 miles at 8/mile is solid. Try to do two speed workouts per week if you can, just keep pushing the speed. Sub 20 should be well within reach for you. 4 or 5 x 1k is a really good 5k predictor workout. If you can nail 6:26/mile for each interval then you should be able to go 19:59 for a race.

How long in between 1ks? I've been doing them with a minute in between. Is that too long?

14 today @ 8:26/mi

Longest run I've ever done to cap off my longest week since college, I think. A little over 47mi. That's the peak week of the Pfitz program I'm on so it's downhill from here

1 to 2 minutes between each. Like I said, if you’re hitting 6:26/mile on each interval, you’re in 19:59 shape.

Not sure I’m the right person to analyze a workout, but that looks like a fun one and solid effort on your part.

Not the 2024 I had in mind especially with having to withdraw from Western States 100 but ended the year with 1697 miles. Not terrible considering I didn’t run Feb, March,April and most of May. Not sure what 2025 will bring. Going to “train” for my first official half marathon March 15th. It will be a crap shoot with the weather and road conditions but got nothing to lose. Now just got to get the year started off right with my annual New Year’s Day 50k. Will be running LSU lakes tomorrow starting around 7-7:30 if anyone else is around.

3 miles at 9:55pace
412 milesfor the year started pretty much in April.
Went from barely able to run a mile to completing 2 5ks ~25min pace for them.
Currently training for a marathon in January and feel like I’m in the best shape of my life since my 20s .
Turn 49 in February and somewhat thinking I will try a 50 miler when I turn 50 if my body keeps holding up.

Is that Garmin? I've been too lazy to figure out how to setup intervals on my Garmin.

Good job and great accomplishments to you!

This was me last year, keep at it and you'll be amazed at what your body can do!

I ended 2024 with 1,559 miles which is 465 miles (goal was 2024 in 2024) short of my goal this year. But having the Sports Hernia which sidelined me in May and June and then I had to build back up in July and August really did me in. I'll take my accomplishments though - Spartan Trifecta in March and sub-23 hour 100 miler in November. Was a good year, next year will hopefully be even better!

To 2025!

Yes, it's fairly easy. You can do it from your phone or your computer. Go to "Workouts" and "create new workout"

For Intervals I always "add repeats" and then put them in there. You can do Metric or Imperial, you can put your "goal" as anything you want, for me it's pace for you, you can put HR. It will scream at you if you are over or below, etc.

After you are done with creating it just make sure to "send to device"

When you go to "run" hit the button on the left of your watch (three dots) -> then "training" -> then workout library and the workout you just created will be there.

I love this feature, and when I integrate with v.02 next month they will add them automatically for me.

Finished it off with a 15:54 3 mile today. 3 seconds off pr but it was pretty windy.

Hoping Cadence can do this or possibly Resolute.
