I agree. Race it and get an updated VDOT to base your workouts around. Or whatever your training plan calls them

Scaled it back yesterday and could still only muster a mile with pain in my shins and the outside of my right foot. Will give it another go tomorrow and see how far I can get within reason.

Monday I sucked. 3.5 at an 8:40 pace. 10+ degrees cooler tomorrow morning, we'll see. I am tempted to do some sprint intervals for a while to get back into running shape. Maybe I just got old.

Looks like Cocodona has turned 200’s into the new 100. New point to point 200 miler in the southeast on the Pinhoti (starts in Georgia, finishes on Mount Cheaha in Alabama). Can’t wait to see how this turns out: LINK

200's have been around well before cocodona 250. bigfoot, tahoe, moab, vol state etc. happy to see one located in the south but not sure this statement from the website is true.

"The Southern States 200 will be one of only three Mountain TRAIL, POINT-TO-POINT, 200-mile races in the U.S."

Bigfoot, tahoe and oregon i would think classify as mountain trail. south states claims 20k gain where as bigfoot and oregon have 45k.

The distance is intriguing.

Felt so damn good out there this morning.

Ran last night but only 2 miles since my foot is still bothering me and I’ve had issues with shin splints but felt so damn amazing afterwards. Will be pushing it up to 3.1 miles tomorrow.

The humidity is always low for me.

Getting back into running/hiking ahead of ski season.

Did 3.5 miles, 1025' vertical gain. About an hour to do it. Doing this at elevation kinda blows, tbh.

Well Jim did it! Hell yeah!

Only took moving to the French Alps and dedicating everything to 1 race, but he becomes the first USA male to win UTMB!

Also Zach Miller, probably my favorite ultra runner, coming in 2nd.

Happy for him, he had bad luck there the last few years.

Courtney won for the women. What a summer for her, won WSER, hard rock and utmb. She’s incredible.

Had never ran more than 7 miles before today. Did a half marathon this morning. Pace was a bit light at 8:38/mile but overall felt pretty good. Finished under two hours which was the goal.

Leadville's own (well adopted, whatever)

Hills and core today. Making good progress for skiing fitness. Also, thinking about running the heavy half marathon in Leadville next summer. Goes up to over 13000' and comes back down.

Welp here we go! Signed up for my first half marathon that the Fiance and I have decided to challenge ourselves with. BMW half in Dallas on December 10th.

Currently doing the 14-week nike run club training program. Training has felt great the last few mornings with the amazing mid 60's weather. A bit nervous about the training when it gets into the 30-40s.

Where do you live that's its going to be in the 30's by dec?

40 is great weather. singlet (tuck in if windy) with long sleeve over it and gloves. 30 isn't much different may switch to wind proof super light jacket. doesn't take long to get comfortable with it if you have right clothes.

Depending on the wind, I have two running outfits.

55 and below: long sleeve + shorts
55 and above: shorts

I’ve pretty much phased out t shirts.

30's was an exaggeration looking back training will be split between south LA and Dallas which I frequent 2 weekends out of the month. So there a chance a few of my long runs may fall on a chillier than normal day up there. Some of the August days just getting back into running shape were so terrible in the 100 degree heat that I may actually look forward to a few 40deg days

Anybody got experience running when its *gulp* a good bit colder than 30?

Very real possibility of having teens to deal with by November. And ugh... a few single digit days by Dec/Jan. I aint going early, so wont be fricking with negatives.

I run no matter what the temp is, so the lowest I've done is 9 degrees and I have done many runs in the teens. Don't layer too much on, you will sweat. Cover the face for sure, unless you got a solid beard going. Ears as well. Gloves. I actually wear really thing "pants" or whatever they are called when it's in the teens, and by the end of my 30 minute run I'm definitely warm. Biggest pain is the surface conditions, I run when it's snowing but ice on the roads is a pain. Slow down at first for sure.
