This thread sure dies in August. I've been walking right before sunset and even that is rough. I don't miss running when it feels like this.

Yeah I’ve been doing Peloton so I can stay home and also due to heat. I see people on Strava doing workouts at 2 in the afternoon, seems insane.

It still sucked running Wednesday morning at 62 degrees. I blame last week's blood donation, it is usually a couple of weeks before endurance fully returns. Back to the bike tomorrow.

Early bird gets the worm.

Almost done my 5k program, 28 minute run today @ a 10:00/M pace.

I’m in the midst of trying to get back in shape for a half this October.

I didn’t do shite but eat and drink the month I lived in a hotel after the trees fell on my house. I gained about 10 lbs.

Now trying to get back to it when it’s 105 is…hard.

Like others, in the past I would just use the Peloton during this time, but it got destroyed :(

7 miles scheduled for the morning. Not looking forward to it.

Sounds like my summer, travel and vacations have packed the pounds back on for me.

I am only running a 5k today but thoroughly expect to be drenched at the end

I've been doing a lot more weightlifting (and eating) and have gained about 6lbs.

I'm shocked at how negatively impacted my cardiovascular endurance is.

Congrats on the twin girls, baw

This is the first summer I’ve really committed to staying consistent. 35-40 mpw with a 12+ mile long run for about 7 weeks now. Hoping it will pay dividends this fall & for Houston in January.

Thanks!

I was told having kids is fun. When I found out it was two, I figured “hey, twice the fun”. Two months in and I can now say it is not, in fact, twice the fun.

Been bumping up the mileage. This will be 2 weeks in a row above 40. I’ll probably sign up for some fall race but won’t try to be fast until spring

Ran a 50 miler Saturday on mostly bike paths and roads. Heat index over 105f. Just brutal. Finished right on my goal time of 10 hours though.

It was rough. Was going through 3x 16oz fluids every 6ish miles.

My stomach would hurt bad if I were to drink enough fluid for that

I’m not a runner but finished a 10K pretty easily over the weekend at a 7:45 pace. Decided, “f it” I’ll do a Half Marathon in two weeks just for the hell of it. C'est la vie!

ive pretty steadily been running 3 days a week. ~15 miles a week. Mixing in a peloton ride and lifting 2/3 days a week.

switched to early AM workouts. still 81 with 90s feels like at 6am

Crubbed some weekday evening IPA habits but that will be tested next Thursday come football season.

Put in 11 this AM. It’s so hot out there that running almost seems counterproductive. Average HR 152. Average pace 11min/mile.

First race is in 30 days. Just a local 5K. Zero expectations and treating it as a tempo run.

Ran a 6:23 mile time trial last night. Not bad considering this is what my Strava looks like since about April:

Got a treadmill now so I can't use the heat as an excuse anymore. Hoping for a solid build up through fall and winter leads to some fast spring races.

I opted for all bike last week, but it'll be raining in the morning tomorrow and cooler Wednesday, so I'll be back on my feet. Maybe it should be expected, but working the bike hard does not keep my running stamina up, when I go back to running I suck again and have to work back into form. I am sure I'm doing one or both inefficiently.

Why not actually race it? You’ll have a good indication of your current fitness to base training on through the fall.
