I mean if it’s not hurting you to run like that and you’re not overly worried about pacing I think you’re fine. There’s little exercise you can do to help train yourself to run correctly if you want to take the time but that’s up to you.

Yeah I feel like I keep seeing more and more that being a heel striker isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s more about where your heel strikes that’s important. If it’s under you as opposed to out in front (over-striding) then you should be good.

Ran Peavine Falls today. It’s 8.25 miles, 1000’ of climb, and the last 1.25 miles are trail. It’s like a dare. Add in the heat and humidity and it’s a blast.
Left a lot out there today. My race plan was well executed, but not the best plan. Need to get more technical with my HR race planning.
Plan was HR 160 for mile one. 170 for mile two. 180 for three through seven. Then whatever I had left for last mile. My max HR is 195. There’s tons of HR zone stuff for training. Not much for racing.
Just an FYI in terms of difficulty, there were people walking the hill starting at mile two.

I knew a few folks running that yesterday too. It looked hot as hell. Very nice time for the weather.

Courtney Dauwalter set the Western States 100 course record of 15:29:34 three weeks ago. Today, she set a course record at the Hardrock 100 in 26:14:08, for a combined time of 41:43:42. This resets the overall record for this double of 42:12:43 (Jeff Browning, 2016).
Courtney needs to get some pub outside of the ultra running world. She is incredible.

yes she is incredible and should be in the yearly conversation for best female athlete. but there's no money in the sport so it doesn't get talked about.

1 month bump.
Had to go to page 4 to find this thread! Would say the heat has a bunch of us inside, but Strava says otherwise. Some of y’all are putting in some work. How y’all doing out there?
My running is on hiatus since my twin girls arrived at the end of June. I’m lucky to get out of the house for a few miles twice a week. Bought a Bob double stroller just gotta wait til they’re old enough to jog with and will maybe bring them along
.Plan on running the Power Mile this Saturday though. Anyone else?

30 miles every week. Our long run Saturday was 95% humidity according to one of our guys. Truly miserable.
Need to find a target race for Feb. the half marathon in Bham won’t be run next year. Gotta find a replacement. Have a 5K, 10K, and an 8K before year end.

Just started to get into running to help my son with Cross Country but he decided it’s not for him. I’m going to keep with it on an every other day basis at night to help with body recomposition.

at 16-20 miles a week, running 3 days. Ending my 10k training and Officially starting half marathon training next week. Hopefully these 90+ heat indexes do something for me
will make a man out of you. I got a single running stroller and it shaves 2 minutes off my time and gases me in this heat.
You'd think i would get more props for taking the kid out of the house for a couple of hours every weekend

haven't been able to run consistently which is very difficult for me mentally but knocked out elk horn 50 miler in montana august 5th. some pretty rugged trails and 12k of climbing. 12.5 hours for 14th out of 54. Running grindstone 100k sept 23rd hoping to secure my ticket for western states lottery.
b/w now and then some dr. appt to try and figure out my leg/foot issue.
any one looking for 50 miler / 50k / 13.1 mid oct check out the new orleans urban ultra. Race directors are good friends and put on a good event. $250 for anyone who sets a new course record. Women have good chance....men not so much. 50k record is a 3:08

At least 80% (and likely more) of my miles the past few months have been on the treadmill.
At one point I went about 3 weeks between outdoor runs.

When it's this bad I replace runs with the bike since I generate more artificial wind and it's easier on my lungs. Some weeks I did ask bike and no running. 60 tonight though, I'll be back to running. Also it's getting darker than I like to bike at the time I do it. Easier to stop running or swerve on a dime vs hit unknown things downhill at 28mph in the dark.

Got a run in early yesterday with the low humidity but I definitely need to pick up a new pair of running shoes.

I have been running at 7:30 pm and it is still 97 degrees some days
